Absolutely, group finder groups for any given activity would probably triple.
Right on. I main Alliance, and none of my toons who are far enough in the BfA story have even accepted the raid quest to kill Rastakhan, a character they’d never even met. And if Thunder Bluff is going to be attacked, I’ll defend it if I can. Sure, I wish Teldrassil didn’t go up in flames, and yeah, there are some Horde players gloating over it, but it’s really the writing team’s fault that any of it happened in the first place.
The entire story this xpac was written so badly that I don’t think I could ever take Alliance vs. Horde seriously ever again.
And they go right back to fighting once said existential threat is removed, to speak nothing of the constant warfare that was unceasing in the background even during these temporary truces.
Why even call the story Warcraft at that point, where’s the war? A world built upon the conflict of Orcs versus Humans and the factions that align themselves with either side.
It’s hard not to look at some of these outlandish posts on GD and laugh, it’s like some of you are out to kill this game prematurely.
Did you forget the “World of” part of the title? because this is a game set in the Warcraft Universe.
The original was about Orcs Versus Humans.
But that later became, Humans, Versus, mind controlled aliens, and there’s even bigger aliens that are the real bad guys.
This game takes place in the Warcraft universe, and outside of contrived reasons to kill eachother, there’s much bigger threats to handle in the Warcraft universe.
So once again, World of Warcraft is about Teaming up, or did you miss the whole “Put aside your differences and work together” message behind every expansion? you’d be forgiven if it went over your head, they hide it very well.
I think once in a great while, having a dungeon or event that allows it, kind of like mercenary mode for pvp for the sake of shortening queue times, would be kind of cool or just for a way to shake things up if it makes sense. It’s kind of like vehicle fights, I don’t want expansions filled with it because it loses it’s charm, but it’s cool once in a while.
Name a single expansion in which the Horde and Alliance haven’t waged war in the background. This includes PvP instances, in which those battles canonically occurred during the timeline of that expac, this includes area conquest, in which faction warfare was being waged for disputed ground…
Find a single expac in which these conditions have not been met and i’ll concede.
I’ll give you a hint, you’ll have a hard time because this expac does not exist.
It would be fun. There’s a couple forum regulars who would be a blast to team up with, and now I have this image of Fenshire and myself smashing a bunch of enemies, and then it ending like this:
in the background
Because legion wasn’t about stoping the legion, it was about killing eachother.
Pandaria wasn’t about stopping Garrosh, it was about killing eachother.
Cataclsym wasn’t about Deathwing, it was about killing eachother.
And Wotlk wasn’t about Arthas, It was about killing eachother.
So in the next expansion, when we’re working together to kill the bad guy, we can still kill eachother in the background
But for the PvE side of things, we should be able to work together, like we always do.
Once again, Working together is the greater theme of WoW. Fighting each other is the Background dressing.
Clearly you care about PvP, and nothing would change for you. You already have a mode where you opt in to fight for the other faction.
Pretty sure working together to squash the enemy faction sits at the top level of the hierarchy, with associated sub-themes branching off said header.
Maybe I was misinterpreting the RTS I played before WoW which served as the primary world building tools for the universe
I guess you did miss it, Because the end of Reign of Chaos had Night elves, Humans, and Orcs, WORKING TOGETHER to defend Hyjal.
The “Reign of Chaos” wasn’t the “Reign of the horde or the alliance”
It was referring to the Legion.
So maybe you did misinterpret it, just like you missed all the expansions we put aside our differences to work together.
Once in a while? Sure. But if this becomes permanent many others and myself would not be happy.
The RTS where Alliance hero Jaina sided with the Horde against her own dad?
I loved taking my, “evil,” dark elf enchanter into, “good,” cities like Forkwatch and Qeynos!
I’ve made it a part of my characters that they only kill when necessary, when someone is trying to kill me. I am always careful not to accept quests that violate this, but I assumed my DK was under the influence of Arthas when he committed his atrocities in the opening quests.
Not really, but I’m fortunate to have a guild filled with people I’ve been playing with for years. And we’re typically very anti-alliance. We have Alliance alts for things like RP realms and such, but that’s about it.
