If WoW were setup like FFXIV

This is true, unfortunately. : ( You are the only exception Wild. And that one gnome that hands out cookies.

I concur. For me, most of the fun of an alt is that its a completely different character.

They have Lalafell, which are somehow in many ways even cuter. Especially when they are playing the villain. Itā€™s like a toddler pretending to be the bad guy from a Disney movieā€¦

I mean, itā€™s not like you canā€™t level an alt character in FFXIV. It does mean you need to do the story again. But so does leveling an alt in WoW.

Hundreds of hours of the most boring, generic, time-wasting rushed content imaginable that Squenix made unskippable (except by buying a skip) on purpose to buy time for their reboot in the early days of the game. And now the community is so used to that terrible content that they defend its existence to this day.

SWTOR, ESO, and WoW all radically reinvented their leveling content to make it as smooth and consistent and quick as possible to get to end-game content.

FFXIV is the only major MMO on the market that forces you to buy a level-skip if you donā€™t want to spend months in boring, generic, purposefully time-wasting content.

Of course you want to level quick in WoW, leveling in this game is trash lol.

ESO and SWTOR also both reinvented their early-game content approach, and both games have far more interesting story/content than ARR.

Neat but thatā€™s super subjective, just like anything else being said. Not sure why SWTOR is even being mentioned, itā€™s free to play garbage and has been garbage since it tanked years ago.

Yes, those games also havenā€™t been telling the same story since their launch. One of the best stories in the last decade according to many.

Look, I get it, you donā€™t like story, but people donā€™t defend FFXIV because ā€œweā€™re used to terrible contentā€. Ask any FFXIV fan and theyā€™ll tell you the game has flaws and that starting it is slow and itā€™s a slog, but itā€™s very worth getting through that slog.

But as for the narrative theyā€™ve been going through, the conclusion to that story is coming in their next xpac, so they likely will do something similar in allowing players to skip that story like other major MMOs. They already have the system in place to allow players to go back and experience that story.

Itā€™s being mentioned because Iā€™m mentioning it. The class and planet stories of SWTOR are infinitely more interesting than anything in A Realm Reborn. ARR is trash, unskippable, tedious trash.

Yoshi-P and the team should have fixed it years ago.

A man who never played Consular typed this.

Yet it failed, hard, and FF is still growing.

ARR is a slog yes, but ARR sets up the rest of the story.

Mass Effect 1 sets up the rest of the Mass Effect trilogy, Dragon Age Origins sets up the rest of the Dragon Age trilogy, and yet there are ways around that (interactive comics etc.). Imagine forcing everyone to play through every single side quest in Mass Effect 1 before you could experience Mass Effect 2.

Thatā€™s ARR.

In other news, if Mr. Face loves itā€¦

The story content that you have to do in FFXIV is fun. Why would players want to skip that? You can buy a boost to skip the story, but then it just takes you longer to level your character. It is dumb to buy that boost.

If the storytelling in WoW was as good as it is in FF14, Iā€™d be fine with that.

Esp since in FF14, 1 character = all classes so you only do it once.

Yes, but that isnā€™t the point. Haha. He even clarified how quick it is to level to max. Which, it really is.

Imagine thinking you canā€™t just click through all the quests and ignore the story in FFXIV aka skip the story.

Imagine thinking you should just be able to start a new game and be max level in 5 hours and able to ignore 99% of the game.

Look I know WoW has trained you that anything that isnā€™t current content is trash, but unplug man.
