If WoW had five factions

I’m all for more factions, even subfactions, so long as we get these:

Black Empire: (3rd faction)

  • Naga
  • K’thir
  • Nerubian
  • Mantid
  • Anubisath
  • Tol’vir
  • Murloc

Burning Legion: (4th faction)

  • Wyrmtongue
  • Sayaad
  • Man’ari Eredar
  • Nathrezim
  • Imp
  • Satyr
  • Wrathguard

Scourge: (5th faction)

  • Banshee
  • Geist
  • Ghoul
  • Abomination
  • Darkfallen
  • Zombie
  • Lich

Almost like WC3 was supposed to be plus a demon faction but then a big old nope.

Ive often thought the same thing comming to similar conclusions. Slight diffrences but very similar to the OP 5 faction idea.

How I always imagined it

Horde- all Orc, Troll, Tauren, Goblins, and variations of those races plus playable ogres. “Classic horde vibe”

Alliance- all Human, Dwarf, Gnome, Quel’Thalasian elves, and all variations like kul’tiran, worgen, dark iron ect. And a playable pigmy vykrul, so a vykrul about the size of a night elf or kul’tiran. “Classic alliance vibe”

Forsaken- Undead humans, light undead, undead elves, wretched, withered, and add some undead versions of other core races, this would be the closest to having a “evil faction”

The pact- Night elves, Nightborne, Dreani, Lightforge Dreani, and add Furblong and non human worgen. “Kinda of a alliance but with that union of necessity feel”

The pack- Pandas, vulpera, Drakthere, fish people, both panda and bfa versions, “the fury faction”

I was thinking exactly that.

This feels like it would get convoluted and overly complicated very fast.

I would rather Grils vs non Grils.

It would be a better game with 5 factions.

Personally what I’ve always thought would make the most sense:

Nature loving faction: Night Elves, Tauren, Furbolg

Evil/monster faction: Forsaken, Worgen, Naga (yes I know Forsaken/Worgen hate each other but thematically it would work so well)

Light worshiping faction aka Alliance: Humans, High/Blood Elves, Dranei

Noble savage faction aka Horde: Orcs, Trolls, Ogres

Tech/Little people faction: Dwarves, Gnomes, Goblins

I think dividing into further factions would end up being terrible, unless it was only in name only kinda deal.

But if we were to divide into five, I think it would make more sense to use cosmic factions. Aka something like light, void, elemental, life, and death. Of course, then you run into the problem of certain classes being totally aligned with just one.

Though if we were just talking about allegiances for a cool cosmetic reputation that would be different. Though possibly to much like shadowlands covenants.

But I’m off track here. No, I don’t think it would be a good idea to divide the player base to such a large extent.

Yeah well i dont really like my neighbors but here i am, a citizen.

All elves are elitist in their own way.

Long ago, the five factions lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when one faction attacked….

And the wayward Nomads were wiped from azeroth.

Until one day in a block of ice, one was found.

Idk if I’d group them like this.

Night elves don’t really vibe with most other elves. I’d argue that they’d be best on their own. Honestly, if we’re gonna group them, I’d say Worgen, draenei, and Tauren make better allies for them.

Just a quick edit to say the list is still fun!!

I’d probably shuffle worgen to being allied with night elf, and put tauren there too. At the risk of making it a very “furry” faction, I’d also add dracthyr. In Azeroth the night elves feel like they have the closest connection to the dragons and the dracthyr would likely be comfortable. OR just make Dracthyr completely faction independent they are now.

Humans, gnomes, and dwarves mostly work together as well.

Nightborne, Void elves, and blood elves make a good faction, but I’d add Draenei as well.

Yes, they’re furry and cute, but Vulpera actually fit in really well with trolls and orcs culturally, and would be an amusing addition to their ranks.

Goblins and Pandaren I think like dracthyr actually make the most sense neutral. I guess that makes four factions rather than five but

Humans (All), Gnomes (All), dwarves. (All)

Night Elves, Tauren (All), Worgen.

Nightborne, Void Elves, Blood Elves, Draenei

Trolls, Orcs (All), Vulpera

And dracthyr, goblins, and pandaren would go wherever

Not all Blood Elves worship the light. That’s usually a thing for Pallies and Priests. If they ever moved me to the Alliance, I’d quit immediately.

I totally agree, and the WC3 iteration of them is still the absolute best in the franchise. WoW softened them.

Anyway, the ONLY reason I put all these elves together is because Blizz said they’re reuniting all the elves or some such business? I don’t think we know exactly how yet tho.

Oh you’re right!!

I still think it’s a bit of a weird idea but we’ll see how they do. I guess in that context they do make sense… Hopefully Midnight does it in a cool and fun way.
