If we can re-rune for free whenever, we should be able to re-spec for free whenever

Sure, that’s a fair point.

idk if that’s accurate to what the devs said about it, or if that was a design goal.

Of course you could make whatever inferences you’d like from how you perceive SoD to be its intended design decisions, regardless of whatever the devs said in an online video interview. But, what they have stated is that “what Season of Discovery’s all about is going out and rediscovering the original World of Warcraft world.

What simple reality is that? Now it appears that you are attempting to build a false narrative to attack and claim that that is me. I believe this is what people mean when they say, “strawman.”

This isn’t a particularly constructive way to attempt to define a problem. It’s rather confounding that someone would use defamatory language such as troll to describe someone while simultaneously making strawman arguments and attempting to persuade them that the lack of what they personally want is the definition of a problem.

In another context, for illustration one might say that they lack money, which is a problem, but not necessarily in the context of them needing to solve a particular thing, such as them being hungry. There are many ways to solve hunger, and though money may be able to lead to a solution, it isn’t a solution in and of itself. The problem is hunger, and a possible solution is a sandwich (type of food).

Anyway, at this point it might do us both some good to recognize that we simply do not agree on something. You seem to want to discuss your opinion or preference as if it is fact, whereas I see it much more as preference. You might say that pizza is better with olives, while I might say it’s better without, because I prefer simpler things. You can argue the virtues of olives all day, but that doesn’t change that it isn’t what I like, nor does my preference make yours any worse or better, fundamentally.

Again though…

See, you say these things, but then when you say “you’re not hungry” its like… no, no I am hungry, don’t tell me I’m not hungry. It’s lunch-time and we all went to the cafeteria and we got some free ice cream samples and then we were told we could buy one slice of pizza and that’s it and it does a little bit to help mitigate the hunger issue but then you waltz in here saying just stop being so hungry and you won’t be hungry. Like come on. If we’re saying we’re hungry its because we’re hungry and people aren’t just going to “decide” they’re not hungry anymore.

I never said anything of the sort. This is your strawman, and it’s frankly inappropriate. If you want to have a nonsensical argument with someone go ahead, but I’ll be over here enjoying my game the way I like it for now.

If that changes, it changes.

What does it do to the game? Make tanks and healers more readily availible?

Possibly. I don’t think this is necessarily a good or bad thing, btw. But, I suppose it’s a fair point.

It’s more that in Classic, especially with the simpler trees, it’s quite possible to have a spec that’s better for 1 thing than another, but still reasonable for both, and there are some interesting trade-offs to be made.

An example (since being very general about things is often not explicit or clear), would be say a 30/21/0 Paladin build where you have 30 points into the holy tree, and you’re able to raid heal, and play that role quite well, but you also have 21 points that you could put elsewhere, in this case into the Prot tree, allowing you to tank dungeons like Scholomance and Stratholme UD, while also being able to solo farm lashers in DM: East, etc. But you might also make a tradeoff of putting those points into the Ret tree instead, or into some other points to be more effective situationally in PVP scenarios, etc.

And this is also a trade-off versus dropping gold to spend on respecs for specific, specialized content or content farming, intentionally. Like if you decide to rank, you might want a very PVP-centric build, and you might not want to be respecc’ing for raids, which you might consider to be side-content next to what you’re focusing your time on, and so you also make trade-offs of finding people in a guild who support those types of decisions, as a community.

Which is quite different from what we see in Wrath once Dual spec is available, where it is expected that some classes or specs also have another spec specifically for certain bosses or content. And how there’s much less connection between guild-raid activity and outside of raid activity in expansions that there seems to tend to be in Classic.

Anyway, I’m not trying to change other people’s minds. If you personally like dual spec, then that’s great! Of course you should ask for what you like. I don’t like it, and I don’t want it in the game that I am enjoying, so while I hope that it doesn’t come to SoD, it’s perfectly fine (to me) that you do, even though I disagree and am championing my own opinion.

Right, cut out, so no longer part of it and now a part of gear enhancement.

Gear and enhancements there upon are transient
