Of course it could but does the game need it really? This is Monks and DH all over again cause WoW really needed another two high mobile leather wearing melee dps in game.
More tanks is ALWAYS good.
I’ve been a tank main for years, and any variety to the tanking scene is welcome ESPECIALLY if it brings new tank players into the mix.
Tinker could be very easily spun to fit all 3 roles, and i would happily risk a period of tricky balance if it meant getting my absolute dream role in this game.
As i stated above, Tinkers already exist, many relevant and well known NPCs are Tinkers.
Say that to the people who play them and cant get x or y spot.
Im all for new classes being added they are good for the game, but where they are needed and they are needed in one role more than any other and that is ranged.
Nope, doesn’t appeal to me.
If they had a healer spec I might try because I love healing and I like to try all the healer specs, but other than that, nope.
And tinkers would undoubtedly have ranged capabilities, i fail to see the problem.
You said it yourself it would be tank, melee , ranged 2 of those are not required and would create more issues than we already have.
Full ranged 2 specs like dh (they got it right with 2 fleshed out specs)or hybrid ranged dps and healer would be better for balance.
Even another healer isnt needed over a range dps classes
Why limit ideas to such a narrow mind frame like that?
If you make yourself a slave to the balance you will never allow yourself to have any fun.
Yes new ranged DPS would be nice. New tanks would encourage new people to tank. New healers would hopefully have new and interesting abilities to cure stagnant nature of the other healers in the game.
Making a class that is ranged DPS only would cut off people who like to play the other 3 roles.

15 most for RBGS
2-5 arena
Representation of some classes wouldnt exist.
There is a bigger picture.
Races that would fit would be
Gnome
Mechagnome
Goblin
Mag’har
And idk tbf besides those

Imho though it should be open to all races. Tinker should be like Hunter and Warrior, something that isn’t magical, that requires no innate extra ability. Just something that can be taught to anyone who wants to learn.

Giving Alliance two tinkers over Horde 1 tinker.
As such. Still annoyed that Hearthstone did Goblins vs Gnomes before WoW.
This still feels like an oversight.
Allow me to hit you with some FACTS.
Firstly. In Warcraft 3, all technological progression for the Alliance came from the Dwarves. Easily justifying both regular and dark iron dwarves.
The Orcs on Draenor had a massive foundry the size of a skyscraper. The master engineer trainer in vanilla was a green skinned orc.
Already that expands the list to:
Dwarves. Dark Irons. Gnomes, Mechagnomes, Orcs, Mag’har, Goblins.
Even still if you wanted to, you could give it to the Draenei and the Blood elves, as they both have magic constructs.
Or just say “screw it” and hand it to everyone.
