I’m referring to them harvesting. They are doing it on stream. Harvesting, switching, harvesting some more.
Layers are copies of the entire server.
- Fix it so that layer hopping can’t be done. Very likely to be done, or at least attempted.
- Suspend the players involved. Never, make that never ever, going to happen.
- Roll back their ill gotten gains. Same as above, not in your lifetime will this happen.

If they do this right now every server that ever goes past medium (so all but 2?) will have multi-hour queues. The game was designed around a certain number of active players. Layering is how they decided to get more than those design numbers on the server at once. Right now tens of thousands of people are playing on the high pop servers, and it’s manageable because of layering. Pulling the plug on it immediately just puts more of us back in queues, which I don’t want.
No one said to get rid of layering. I want them to fix the exploit so that people can’t keep hopping layers. Layering is necessary for now. What is not is the exploitation.

Exploit no. Bad for the economy and long term state of the game we will see.
Layering should have never been the solution to what wasn’t a problem.
Add enough realms, cap them, if you need more then add them. If the realms dwindled later, stop being lazy and merge them like they did in 2013.

No question in my mind this is an Exploit, and the people using it should be dealt with swiftly and decisively.
If the economy ends up in the toilet due to this, my sub is gone as well.

I’ve been subbed to WoW for a verryyyyy long time, from OG Vanilla to BFA. This is the first thing that has actually upset me about the game. I am very concerned and would like Blizz to officially comment on this exploit (working as intended or not?).

Unless something changes and numbers drop quickly, layering will probably be here to stay in some fashion. No way you could dump all of those people onto one server like Herod or Falerina and expect it not to break something.
This isn’t a big deal anyways because it is probably a minor portion of the playerbase doing it (currently) the majority are still trying to get to 60.
I mean, if all it takes to get rid of you is some clowns exploiting something that will gain them pretty much nothing and doesn’t affect you at all…

Except that people are grouping up and doing quest. I do quest with people all the time out in the world. People aren’t being anti social. Classic wow for the majority of the player base is exactly what you want it to be.
Layering is here to stay.
It’s annoying how people can’t just play and enjoy the game for what it is. Human slugs feel the need to find some exploit to get ahead or somehow cheat the system and dilute the experience for everyone else.
If they need to put a 10 or 15m timer on switching layers to stop them I guess I could get around it. Would be kind of annoying for trade purposes or if you are trying to group for quests sometimes, but I’m not sure what else can be done besides suspending people who regularly do it.

Actually, it’s not. Blizz has said it themselves, Layering will be gone by Phase 2. So, not sure why you’re purposely misleading people.
