This intrigues me because one of the six “Realms” IS Life. Did Life spring from Light and Order?
“The cataclysmic birth of the cosmos also flung shards of Light throughout reality. These shards suffused the matter of myriad worlds with the spark of life, giving rise to creatures of wondrous and terrible diversity.”
“The most common forms of life to appear were the elemental spirits”
“Occasionally, clouds of fractured Light gathered and gave shape to beings of far greater power, of far greater potential. Among these were the naaru”
“Even more extraordinary than the naaru were the colossal titans”
Thank you!
Do note that Chronicles has already been errata’d to be written by the Titans, and is a perspective piece. It’s akin to how Warhammer 40k handles the lore: “Everything you read is canon, but that doesn’t make it true.” Which was really frustrating when Blizzard said that because it’s like… but then how did they write about their own creation if they weren’t there? HOW BLIZZARD!?
Which isn’t to say that it’s not true, per say, but rather that at this time Chronicles no longer feels like the bible it was.
Either way, that still doesn’t make the Titans akin to the Old Gods of the Light.
This isn’t entirely correct. SOME of chronicles is “written” from the perspective of the titans, but not all of it. It’s from many different perspectives. That’s specifically what Blizzard said, and I could go find the quote if requested. That particular section for example couldn’t have been written from the Titans perspective at all. That’s why I’ve got a theory on who that may be, but people don’t seem to like theories on the forums.
I think Metzen or someone else that worked on the books said that the position of each sphere is just based on what they thought looked good, not how they influence each other.
Though I do believe that still supports my argument that it’s a perspective piece. Perhaps not from just the Titans, but it’s no longer an established external definitive truth, and rather a malleable narrative that can be changed as needed with the simple “that’s what so and so thought.”
If you have the time, I’d appreciate this, so that I can bookmark it for when people misinterpret it like they did the morally grey thing.
I mean… have you seen fire and water elementals? The only planes that get their own expendable troops are air and nature. And the latter are just trees.
Yeah the foreshadowing is a little heavy on this one. We’ll see of course, but yeee…
“Any history is written from a certain point of view”
“The titans point of view and the people that worked for the titans because they ordered so much of Azeroth and what it is”
“But there are a lot of other perspectives as well”

I’d give you likes for taking the time to find that for me, but the forum gods have once again deemed me too happy and have revoked my liking abilities.
Thank you again!
I think adding a light spawn pet like seen in exile reach into a new inquisitor light based DPS spec for priests would be awesome.
I have no dog in the fight, I just wanted to drop in and say:
-
EXCELLENT WoW Astrology/Cosmology/Schools of Magic map.

Spirit and Earth Magic need better representation in the game. Honestly, all of the caster and hybrid classes need to have their schools of magic re-assessed, there is ENTIRELY too much overlap in the classes, when something this diverse exists.
Spirit isn’t easy to represent given it’s not technically a physical thing like earth, water, fire, and air. Monks and Shamans both use the element of Spirit to tap into the other 4 elements. Spirit is like a partnership with the elements, whereas Decay is a domination of the elements.
I always likened Spirit to the Force. lol
Spirit is something both Shamans and Monks make extensive use of.
Shamans call it “the 5th Element” and Monks call it “Chi”, but it’s all the same thing.
Representation for Spirit spells and abilities really wouldn’t be that hard. It’d also be A LOT easier for the average player to understand if Blizzard hadn’t nuke character sheets as much as they have, but I digress.
There are plenty of RPG writers and designers out there to choose from, and the sprites and flashy bits really don’t need to be anything crazy. Less would actually be more for Monk players (I’m one), and Shaman used to have lots of totems that represented their physical connection to the spirits and elements.
Beyond that, a lack of Spirit abilities definitely shouldn’t prevent Shamans from being more elemental. It feels (to me) that Mages outdo Shamans in elemental abilities way too often, and that shouldn’t be the case. In my opinion. Mages should have access to the traditional (D&D) schools of magic, like abjuration, necromancy, conjuration, etc. Arcane is acceptable for them, as it represents a mix of conjuration, chronomancy and transmutation.
Taken another way the Chronicle can be easily assumed to simply say the Titans were even more extraordinary than Naaru without assuming they have the same origin as Naaru…
Also if you read the beginning of the Mythos in Chronicle you’ll notice that it mentions the Light’s first appearance as being suffused with Life Energy which can be taken to mean the Shards of fractured Light dropped the Life Energy it once contained and suffusing it into physical matter!
If indeed the case than the Clash between Light and Void split Life off from Light from the sheer shock of clashing with it’s opposite! In that case the split made sure the Light would no longer be the opposite of the Void!
The Naaru are the lights equivalent of the old gods
