If the best gear came from questing

I would find another game.

I think high level gear rewards for world content is fine. However, BiS raid gear should come from raids. BiS PvP gear should come from PvP.

What I despise is chasing BiS items that drop in content I don’t enjoy. I don’t particularly enjoy M+ and refuse to chase BiS items from there. Same would be true if BiS items dropped from world content. I would really dread having to grind dailies or some other monotonous task just for a BiS.

Having BiS gear scattered throughout various types of content becomes a huge time sink that most of us just don’t have the motivation to do.

Yeah idk what you like about it so who knows. Thanks for drawing conclusions though, whatever they are.

Yeah it’s not for everyone.

Keys up to the mount and normal raids for the fun of it.

No. A lack of gear is not a reason why I don’t participate in those parts of the game.

(all issues I had in Shadowlands with gear have been fully resolved in DF to my satisfaction)

I don’t think i really drew any conclusions. Was just stating my opinion. The game was about completing quests, not collecting gear. Gear was only meant to complete harder quests. The cart has been put before the horse now.

The question this is really asking is,

ā€œIf you only got no rewards from M+, Rated PvP, or Raids, are those forms of content still fun enough to do anyway?ā€

I still would do keys but I would be mad that I had to do even more boring open world stuff to get to the content I want after all that time leveling.

If the best gear came from quests then people would still run M+ and PVP but not Raid.

The only real reason people do raid is for the gear. PvP players actually enjoy themselves(sometimes) and M+ players still run +25-30

What kind of quests? Solo quests? No thanks I’ll go play a solo game if I want to play a game by myself.

Group quests? Sure, I’ll do them with a group, get the gear and then run raids/m+ for the cheevos.

Honestly? I’d be bored in a week and would probably take a break till the next expansion. I can’t really think of a more terrible thing they could do lol.

Game would be dead

I can tell you said quest would involve some epic long mountain scaling escort quest through elite trash, skirting the other faction base and requiring someone to scout ahead that a world boss isn’t kited into the path.

gear has literally no impact on pvp players… they don’t pvp for gear, they pvp to push rating and get gladiator/elite sets/titles (also many people casually pvp in random bgs just for fun regardless of awards)

so, yes… if the best gear came from questing, people who pvp would continue to pvp.

just like pvp, many people who play mythic plus do so in order to get the highest rating possible… Many people go much further than +20s and +20s give the highest gear in vault.

so yes, people would continue to play mythic plus to push ratings, same as the people who push past +20s do right now.

people who get Hall of Fame titles probably would continue to raid because that is a very prestigious title.

outside of the hall of fame raiders, probably not…

I dunno. Do they drop cool mounts or something instead? Or nothing?

Yes and I’ll explain why:

Cosmetics.

Minecraft has like 140million monthly players.
I don’t think it’s the difficulty that is the draw for that game.

just sayin…

It’s also part of 20 years of game knowledge as the game ages.

Classic wasn’t played with nearly anything resembling the wide-eyed wonder of vanilla.

Almost every game on that list is a free to play PvP game which is interesting.

No, they don’t actually enjoy it.
