If Sylvanas was a male character do you think she’d get more or less hate?

Nobody was really fetishizing Garrosh either, but all the artwork and general attitude toward Sylvanas is typically “I’d let her do to me” etc…

Ohhhhh, you haven’t been looking then.

A lot less hate. We live in a Patriarchal society that likes to vilify strong women.

I haven’t seen a “I’d let her do me” attitude beyond occasional joke posts. Especially not since BfA, the people who still like her that I see are mostly either roleplaying Forsaken or taking the same “she’s just doing what’s needed to destroy the Alliance, I’m for it” attitude that Garrosh’s fans did.

I’ve seen people saying she was one of WoW’s most interesting characters pre-BfA, which is very debatable but also isn’t equal to “I’d let her do me.”

I’m sure I don’t have to tell you this but this common perception of slobbering lustful manchildren yearning for their 2D undead waifu didn’t just pop out of thin air. It definitely came from somewhere and definitely has real origins which is why it became a stigma to begin with.

Meanwhile people like me like Thrall, Saurfang, Illidan, and everyone hates those characters so what can you do.

Now I hope the person who liked my post above did it ironically.

Sure, but they don’t try to write off your opinion as “lol you’re just hot for Thrall’s huge orc dick,” which is all my point was. I don’t care if slobbering lustful manchildren exist or not, it gets old having people act like that’s everyone who likes/used to like Sylvanas.

If she was a male Blood Elf lookalike then I would definitely hate on her more. Right now I am half with her and half with Saurfang. I am tired of the Horde losing leaders and I believe both are doing what they think best. But if she was male I would be all team Saurfang and not sure why.

Why do I feel like this whole thread is an excuse for the artist to plug themselves?

Sylvanas would get the same amount of hate. Nathanos might get slightly less instead.

tl;dr

My opinions wouldn’t change depending on her sex. What I like about her are the same things I liked about Mengsk, Kerrigan, Arthas, and Diablo.
Motive, effectiveness, and ruthlessness.
Villain, hero, or anti-hero I like it when a character doesn’t %*#@ around. Arthas didn’t hesitate to gut Terenas, Diablo managed to successfully siege the High Heavens, Kerrigan wanted revenge against the biggest of bastards, and Mengsk built the Dominion out of charisma, betrayal, and ambition. And nothing stood in their way.
That’s my jam.
When people go on and on about genocide this and warmonger that I roll my eyes because the worst thing Sylvanas did in my eyes was not kill Malfurion.

Personally, I think it is a difference between being invested in a story and being invested in a character. People like their toons and see them as whatever role they want to be in Azeroth. So when Sylvanas gives the word to bomb a tree filled with elven civilians, people are shocked and disgusted as they would be if they lived in the world themselves. I look at it from a story standpoint and see that ‘oh, she’s all in on this war no way the Alliance is letting this go with a be honorable next time’. And I loved it because I want to see the Alliance come at the Horde in true fury. Now it’s disappointing that Blizzard doesn’t seem to want to go further because once again they’re going with the Horde civil war route because all the players who like to go full Zuko in regards to honor can’t stand to get their hands dirty.
Maybe I’m being edgy for edgyness’ sake, or maybe I’m not so detached and am taking the role that a goblin death knight would take.
Either way, dude or chick I’d like Sylvanas.

The only reason the horde has a slight allegence to her is she is in fact a female. Look at what happened to garrosh. The whole horde betrayed him except for the Zug Zug old horde best orcs.

It doesn’t have to do with getting hands dirty. It has to do with a sense of morality. I hate that you brought Zuko into this because he is an extremely complex character, and one of my favorites, and there is nothing wrong with him trying to do the right thing. If anything, it’s more the extremity to which Sylvanas has taken things. There is no “morally gray” in what Sylvanas has done since the BFA pre-patch. At least not for me.

Edit: Morally gray to me was Sylvanas trying to enslave that Val’kyr in Stormheim for the sake of her people. A great example of morally gray is Loki from the MCU.

Whos zuko?

He’s from Avatar: The Last Airbender. An animated show.

Ah ok always hated the art style never watched it or the abomination that was the movie if you get a 5 it has to be trash like the dragon ball movie and the 3rd fantastic 4 movie that got a zero what garbage

I didn’t watch the movie, but I enjoyed the show. Zuko was one of the best parts of it though.

It would be more.

Nathanos is basically her male doppleganger, and he’s constantly getting roasted.

Exactly the same? Garrosh had the exact same amount of hate and love. Plenty of people for or against.

Um what? Have you seen the Anduin threads going through here? There is way more hate for him than sylvanas.

Arthas was semi beloved because of his amazing backstory that wc3 made famous (seriously tragic and awesome story).

If Sylvanas lost her waifu card, she’d already be dead-dead.
