If I didn't copy to classic era am I boned?

Did I F up? It says store is “temporary unavailable”. The characters are still there though… Pretty dumb on my part. I did my horde chars but put off my Alliance. Gimmie one more shot to waste some money blizz.

I believe that ship sailed a few weeks ago.

I agree they should re-open the cloning service.

Best of luck m8 but if Bliz says ‘them’s the brakes,’ just know you’re welcome to start a new journey in Classic Era on an alt. Many of us would be happy to lend a hand along the way!

I am in the same boat. I rerolled alliance back in like phase 3 of the original classic launch. Didn’t clone my max level horde characters because I didn’t actually like playing horde. Well who would have guessed faction change would make a comeback, and now look where I am.

Its so dumb. Blizzard just expects all their customers to somehow make informed decisions with real money without telling them anything. This is why everyone is so toxic-ally obsessed with the progression mega servers because if you make the wrong choice you are royally screwed out of hundreds of hours of effort.

Doing SoM right now and want to do wrath, screwed at launch if you can even transfer at launch, just make a new character. Skipped tbc to focus on classic era, screwed out of wotlk, just make a new character; or a month ago you should have paid to clone your 2 years out of date character, you should have somehow known better. Fresh is literally going to fail because of this fear and people are still going to get screwed because they won’t even have a paid way to fix it if it does fail.

It’s like playing the game should not be this hard and risky with time and money. Like it’s weird that we even have to think about these problems at all.

what are you talking about. you can transfer your SoM character to wrath classic immediately upon release.

LOL that got me.

You can level in SoM right now and take advantage of the 100 percent experience bonus. You will get the option to go to Era or Wrath once the SoM season ends.

Where was that confirmed? The only language I am aware of is that transfers will be available when “SoM is over” which could be wotlk release or could be November. That still leaves SoM players in the situation of doing 60-70 without the xp buff everyone is enjoying.

It sure would be nice if it was communicated clearly somewhere and I didn’t have to like dig through a blue post tracker on wowhead or get the information through hearsay on the forums.

Yes, Blizz should be making major technical changes or character lockouts announced on the game client itself. Also, I would like to clarify a few things:

  • Only unlocking Era clones have been disabled and the unlocked ones will eventually be deleted. If you unlocked your Era clone, your TBC clone should still be available. No word on if unlocking your TBC clone will be later free or if people need to pay or if they will be forcibly unlocked later, though.
  • SoM transfers are expected to be available at some point. All we know is that there will be an option to transfer to Era and to WotLK. For SoM to Era transfers, the concerns are the unlocked clones still being present so most players may have their names taken. Additionally we do not know if there will be a cost associated with this which is something to consider with Nu-Blizz. For SoM to WotLK transfers, there is no stated destination server nor solid time frame so it can be anytime between the WotLK prepatch to mid phase 1. Another issue is whether or not there will even be a balanced PvP server for SoM PvP players to transfer to. Otherwise an SoM player may be forcibly transferred to an opposite faction dominated server.

All blue posts for SoM character migrations have included stating the transfer will be free (both to Era or to Wrath). They may do some kind of paid package deal like they did for TBC but nothing of the sort has been hinted at yet.

I suppose I should clarify. I meant to say that I believe that there might be an option to transfer to both where one is free and the other requires money, similar to how the cloning cost shenanigan worked out. Technically “free” but only for one option.

This happened to me too and I’m so so sad :frowning:

My 60 and my other characters all say “Clone Available” but they are grayed out and I can’t play them… I stopped playing when BC came out cause I was only interested in Classic.

They should bring back Character Clone for the players that want to pay to save their characters before they are deleted.

While the deadline has passed, you can always submit a request via their GM Ticket system. If they see enough people are interested in it, they may still have the data on file to bring ur toon back.

Why is it that whenever there is a legitimate classic era thread, you are always found either trolling it, or passing snide remarks?

trolling it like grabbing the flag in wsg and not capping? trolling it like that wonderdruid?

Yes, idk why important classic era concerns are not addressed.

important issues like bracket setting harassment and the such wonderdruid?
