If Classic re-release is succeful, would Blizzard

If Classic re-release is successful, would Blizzard consider maybe following the original “classic” feel to new expansions, kinda like if an alternative reality happened and we still got TBC and Wrath, the game expansions followed an old philosophy.

I feel like WoW it self has lost what made it a good MMO ARPG, ever since MOP I really haven’t been enjoying this game and I absolutely love Vanilla over the newer expansions, however I love TBC/Wrath a lot more.

So, are you asking if they would do “classic” expansions after Classic, or are you asking that expacs after BFA be done according to the Classic design philosophy? Or something else entirely?

Honestly, either one would be fine.

If Classic is a hit, I would imagine that TBC would most likely be worked on.

If you watch their 45min presentation at blizzcon you will see that they are intentionally making everything portable between classic and live. This mean that they could take any raid any dungeon any class any race and port it from live to classic with just a re-balance and poof a decade of new content can trickle out in the classic compatable format without messing up the classic feel.

No. No they will not.

This is a museum piece. A time capsule. Not a reboot.

If this goes well it become more than a museum piece. Remember you are supposedly able to play this with the updated graphics…

I wouldn’t think so. It doesn’t make sense for them to produce two games that feel the same. The whole point of Classic was to recapture that part of the lost audience. If they did as you suggest, they risk losing the part that likes current retail design, for a net zero gain.

I think that will be hard since most of their devs play mobile games now. I wonder why. Could it be that their daily commutes are long so they escape them by playing with their phones. And when they get home all they have time for is to eat sleep and repeat. Just a theory, I wonder.

My understanding is that old school is not only more successful than modern RS it also got new patches(?). SO yes, if classic becomes a success and maintains or even grows its population overtime then i see them applying more of the classic philosophy into new products.

But then you got Activision, and also that new blizzard is not like old blizzard.

I highly doubt it. What made classic special and what makes current WoW special are two very wildly different things.

I think the game would have been way better had they not even increased the level caps. It didn’t make sense. It unnaturally stretched out the game and led to anomalies like twinking admittedly getting way out of hand. It also felt odd to note that there were actually bears in the world that could take out the lich king.

I think it would have added a lot more depth to increase the variety of item types and abilities and sets to help you defeat increasingly powerful foes, sort of like in AD&D. That’s what I thought this game would become.

I mean I guess if I could say WoW failed, it would have failed in a way that was far greater than almost everybody’s successes, but continuing along the path even though I didn’t like where things were going made me feel like I was the failure.

Guilds and community vs easy and simple enough for the ADHD masses…so yes it is different.

If classic was(will be) successful, I’d hope they release TBC.

Yes, keeping people playing the game makes them money.
