If Blizzard treated their players like Square Enix does

Oh yeah, this doesn’t affect a lot of players.

Buddy, your protection of the poor defenseless company it’s sloppy at best.

They used to all the time. That’s before the corporate PR flunkies started managing things. I can remember game credits being given out when serious technical issues arose. Actual conversations with devs.

Those were the days.

Yea I guess the problem is people will say that there is a huge drop off 1-2 months after every expansion. So a 41% drop isn’t bad. However this is a problem over time and you risk losing these players forever due to lack of retention when this is the trend.

The data makes sense if you look at me, my rule of thumb when I buy an expansion is if it is bad after 3 weeks I fully tested it and will unsub for the rest of the expansion unless a patch looks phenomenal.

In SL I played at launch it was an unfinished product so I unsubbed and I didn’t come back for 9.1 because it still has the same problem as 9.0. Soo I’m one of those players that didn’t come back however I wanted to play TBC but now unsubbed because they rushed it because numbers are bad in Retail.

This company just can’t get anything right and the numbers show. All I wanted was a great TBC to play but no, super bugged rushed Prepatch that caused epic fallout in the community and a rushed launch. Bugs still exist, problems still there and Retail changes that people didn’t want.

I just wish we had a good Lead Dev and for Blizz to care. They don’t though so I’m playing another game as I write this.

I’m not talking about World of Warcraft. I didn’t even bring that up. I focused on the inaccuracy of your statement.

Server downtime and launch issues I will agree is a big deal. But the other two items can be considered to not be that big of a problem in relation to the top point.

Housing is not something everyone cares about.

The White Ravens were a pair of earrings granted during an event. Not everyone got upset about that.

Those were small things that SE apologized for through Yoshi P, who represents them.

Your statement was to the contrary of that and my point is to please verify the accuracy of something you are attempting to tout as fact when it is in fact able to be verified as false.

Folks might be more willing to engage in lengthy discourse with you if that is done.

As for my thoughts on the whole affair of Blizzard apologizing, they are going to do as they see fit. It’s up to the players as a whole whether or not to agree with them on not only their words, but the actual deeds committed by Blizzard.

We often like to be heated in the moment, but history turns out to be a better portrait of the truth of things over time. I tend to take the long perspective on matters, and while I love WoW and enjoy playing it immensely, I don’t agree with the direction of the last two expansions. Much less even so on how Blizzard handled the whole hong kong affair.

Actions and history speak louder, and linger far longer, than ones words and statements on a matter. I am ambivalent on the whole affair. Nothing I say or do will change Blizzards course on the ship they steer.

Other companies however, depending on the one being discussed, may be better, or be far worse.

Just a matter of perspective.

So you’re removing the entire context just to take a shot at me? Really?

Nah I am not playing this game. Don’t remove context just so you can take a shot at someone. It’s extremely disingenous and it’s also done in bad faith.

The context of my original post was that Square Enix does not apologize for small things that only inconvenience a few players. They apologize for big issues, and so does Blizzard. End of story.

First, I’m going to address the white elephant in the room:

Once again someone has confused the Flag button for a Dislike button.

Second, I’m going to flip the script:

If players treated SE the way WoW players treat Blizzard…

It’s a two way street, for sure. People love false binaries though.

I am not taking a shot at you. I am keeping on topic to the point I made. Which I have proven that your statement on SE is inaccurate. Housing and The White Ravens issue is not something everyone cares about, by your own qualifiers. Yet Yoshi P apologized about them anyways. Which runs counter to your argument.

If you want me to engage on the other points, yes, Blizzard has apologized to varying degrees on matters. Personally, I consider the whole hong kong affair and how they handled it less than satisfactory. In my opinion.

But that is a business decision they also made. As for the rest of the statement above, as I said, I am ambivalent on the whole thing. If I don’t enjoy things, I state so.

I really do feel that Blizzard could do more to course correct their steering on the direction of this game. Whether I feel they have to apologize for it is not even in my consideration. I am sure that they feel that they are doing what is necessary and what is right, to them.

But not everyone is going to agree on that. The only point at which I feel Blizzard truly needs to come out and say anything along the lines of what others are potentially seeking, is if we have a third expansion in a row that is, bluntly, as poorly received as bfa and the current state of shadowlands is.

Time will tell on that though.

I don’t think the OP’s post deserved to be flagged.

and still, you haven’t been able to explain how they’d know about player numbers for games.
(nor does the link you provided seem to mention anything about reporting on gaming, unless some obscure umbrella term is being used)

i’m sure if you knew, you would have answered, instead of just responding yet again with snark.

it seems like the only information they’re privy to, is sales.
do you know how WoW works?
people purchase the expansion.
then they don’t need to purchase anything else measurable.
the expansion is purchased once per account.
there’s no need for people to continue to buy expansions monthly.
so it’s not exactly a huge shock when the quantity of purchases drops steeply within a few months.

I’ve seen it just wonder which happened first. Not enough to look it up though lol

I literally linked you a page explaining what they are, what they do, how relevant they are, and how they go about getting that data.

Are you actually trying to be this ignorant or just need to be literally spoonfed? The former is going to aggravate me, the latter is just pathetic.

Take your pick.

i haven’t played all of them but i tried black mage and i tried summoner. Because of the spell delays, the rotation is essentially the same. Sure the summoner is doing rot/dot damage but im still hitting the same buttons.

These rules sound great. They invoke such feelsgoodman vibes.

Tell me how they relate in practical applicable terms?

This is propaganda at its best. At worst it is mudslinging.

I’d be more interested and impressed by hearing some actual, substantial design and development processes used by SE. This is just fluff. And where did SE learn this tactic? Blizzcon.

Lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way.

Yeah, that is in no way accurate at 80, or even level 60.

I stopped playing at 60 and it definitely was. If they changed it kudos for them but that’s not on me.

Does anybody smell any gaslighting in here?

Apologies are only done to make sure share prices don’t dip to much if poo hits the fan.

Greed is the driving factor nowadays it seems, at this rate i’m waiting to see when they put the “P2W” button to be available on the store.

You mean how to create two new classes like Bard and Necromancer?
Have more races available for players?
And keep up the effort to create a good story?

So it wouldn’t be Blizzard it would be Aquare/Enix, trying to maintain their playerbase and trying to attract more people to their game.

When was the last time Blizzard actually said they were sorry? About anything?
