I’m really done talking about this. This is just next level pedantic. No software engineer would be confused here, and there’s no “MMO developer” specific definition of this word.
The reason you’re continuing to be pedantic is because this is the only thing you have to argue about, because your original point about stocks and investment and growth was bunk - because you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Iirc they did dial up investment in WoW and got Legion and BfA. So mixed record. Hindsight is 20-20 but they should have focused on warfronts and eventually use it to replace AV. Island expeditions were a waste. Warfronts were/are more forward thinking for the WoW.
using my understanding of the terms you used, explain how what I said was bunk? You can’t because the only reason you think what I said is bunk is because we were operating under two different understandings of the same terms.
Unfortunately this forum isn’t a forum of software engineers. Learn to choose your words to suit their audience. Also no, the term is not specific to MMO developers. It’s specific to the video game industry at large.
YOU claimed the definition is context based. If you want I can show you plenty of articles and discussions on how those terms are used in the video game industry.
If you want to walk back your claim that it’s context based, i point you to my linked definitions above, which still disagree with you.
Boy, I bet people just love you at parties don’t they.
I’m barely holding on to WoW as it is.
Exactly. I’ve tried a couple dozen other MMOs, including the biggest competition, and nothing is as good.
Lets see the “box” sales for Shadowlands… i mean they ripped a lot of people off with their BFA and allied races advertising…
I imagine people wont get fooled again.
I’d still play, and to be honest I don’t really think it would effect me much.
I already bought it, so there is 1. You will have to wait on the rest.
Yeah lol. For some reason I think its going to need 12 months of pre-sale to catch BFA.
The end of Legion was actually pretty fun. BFA and corruption gear, cant see it being as inviting for returning players. Hey come back and learn 3 new gearing systems!!!
The first 2 were widely hated and sucked so we made sure the 3rd is pure luck.
If people were fooled so easily because they lacked basic reading comprehension skills, then yeah. They will probably be fooled again.

The cost was trivial. Worst case I find I don’t like it after I play it for a little while I and I stop. The most expensive box is still cheaper than a decent inexpensive dinner for my wife and I followed by a movie.
easy cash cow, capable of being run in maintenance mode are the classic expacs - vanilla, tbc, wotlk, even cata and mop. could each be rolled back out again, with hardly any effort on their part. the art assests are already made, as are the npcs, spells, animations, music, lore, mounts, quest chains, dungeons, bgs, arenas, raids and environments.
i’d pay to play them all, again. i loved tbc, mop and legion. wod was fun but kinda quiet.
