Ideas to buff fury

I see people posting how in m+ fury wars get the boot.
And as a prot war I don’t blame them.
Where is the utilization you bring like other classes could.
Saying that - we can all acknowledge that fury warriors need to be able to bring something INTO mythics.
My biggest annoyance coming back to shadowlands is that we only have battle shout and commanding shout is now rallying cry?
Bring back the separation of shouts to class specefic to if you want.

Another for mythics is - cc.
Make intimating shout a root fear - basically the mob cowers in a spot.
Allow a war mode talent to let it be used as a spread for multiple people as that’s the only useful case.
Mythics mean u pulled more.
So now we have a fear cc.

Make it where the war can just “yell” at the mob - not be right up in the mobs face.

Another thought - fury warriors have ignore pain correct? So we can kind of tank.

Give us a ability of “grapple”
Where a CD allows us grab an enemy mob - not boss - but we can slow down the enemy - the enemy can still be taunted off , but the grappler still can build threat.
What’s the use of this?
Another form of cc but can have some utility . Like the bears from huntsman to the hunter pet boss in bastion.

Berserker Stance ~ Increases the Warrior and his groups haste by 5%.

Whirlwind causes Deepwounds up to 5 enemies for XX damage over X seconds

So, minimal throughput advantage and making us obligatory no matter our personal issues.

That’s a hard pass for me.

Passive damage on our filler skill that we’d already want to lead with in AoE?

Again, hard pass. That seems just a more annoying version of what would amount to just another aura buff.

For my part, I’d gladly trade the current aura buff for:

  1. Greater use of our present utility, by way of Spell Reflection, Intervene, Intimidating Shout, Challenging Shout, and Piercing Howl, e.g.
    • Spell Reflection gets an absorption and reflect damage (or, in DoTs’ case, potential damage) limit equal to 30% HP, but now persists for 3 seconds after the first reflect (or 1.5 seconds in PvP). Spells in excess of this limit will still be fully absorbed but only the remaining absorption value will be reflected.
    • Intervene will no longer intercept attacks that would reduce you below 30% HP, but will now intercept all damage types, thus making use of Spell Reflection on/for allies.
    • Intimidating Shout now slows enemies by 70%, without DR, over its effect.
    • Challenging Shout CD reduced to 3 minutes to better pair with DbtS and ER.
  2. Greater eHP without having to meaningfully tap into resources.
    • We briefly (e.g. delay to over 4 seconds) stagger 15% damage while Enraged. Warpaint now instead grants 15% Leech upon Enrage, fading over 4 seconds.
  3. Whirlwind —> Cleave made a bit more flexible.
    • Still have Whirlwind generate just 2 stacks (4 on Meat Cleaver) per use, but allow those stacks to bank up to 3 (5 with Meat Cleaver) to facilitate rotating around, say, Massacre-Execute/Condemn.
  4. Talents empowered to bring more prominent choices and effects on gameplay.
    • I’ll leave this to your imagination for now. Imagine a variant of Cold Steel, Hot Blood specifically aimed at generating new, enjoyable priority/targeting concerns over current Seethe’s purely passive effect, for instance.
  5. If need be, adjust for further single target damage via Whirlwind adjustments.
    • For instance, we could increase Whirlwind damage but decrease the Meat Cleaver percentage to 40%, such that ST damage is increased slightly while 5-target damage goes mostly untouched OR we could have Whirlwind’s damage start substantially higher but deal some % damage less with each further target struck (as per previous Chain Lightning designs, and roughly the same damage to 5 targets), again in order to specifically improve Fury’s single-target output without diminishing AoE.

10-15% more damage all around except for condemn.

that should feel better lol

This does not make sense.

Flat 10% damage increase for all abilities would make everything good for fury.

10% is only a 300dps increase when most other classes are better by 1000+dps, have better heals, better cc, better defensives, and better mobility.

How is that only a 300 dps increase.

Fury sims for 5-6k currently. It’s roughly 700-800 dps behind the absolute best sims, which are spriest and feral-owlweave.

That means a 12.1% buff would put fury as the #1 highest simming spec in the game. Which is not reasonable to demand.

Today I learned that every other spec has better everything in every way than fury.

Dude, your literally trolling now just like your troll profile character. Fury does not sim for 5-6k lol. We do on avg 3-4k outside of Mythic raiding which doesn’t have many parses to even matter.

I mean, it does.

Currently well geared fury warriors are simming in the low 5k range. Current fury profile on SimC is at 6.2k, and that is not a perfectly optimized gear setup. (meaning it is possible for fury to sim higher than that, this tier)

I suspect it’s a gameplay preference and a presumed scaling difference. Gameplay-wise, they probably don’t like having their damage driven so much by and around Condemn and would prefer it (and by extension the other 3 Covenant Skills) not to be any further emphasized in flat terms, and relatively deemphasized.

Personally, I’d rather go faintly the other way, if anything, especially in terms of raid-applicable utility of the other 3 Covenant Skills if anything (even following / in addition to whatever Conqueror’s Banner buffs are necessary to bring it up to at least situationally worth taking over the other choices in certain fights or M+ dungeons).

As far as scaling goes, when 3/4 covenant skills largely offer utility (especially, outside of Rage generation as in SoB and AA) in place of damage, the one that is purely damage would of course be the (slightly) more affected by a flat damage buff.

But we’re also critiquing a spitball here, so… /shrug.

I’ll just read as an offhand “buff the **** out of Fury” and “shake up the DPS Warrior covenant meta”, respectively.

For my own part, I want to see gameplay and kit design improvements before aura buffs, if only because once the numbers give little reason to complain, our chances of seeing any further improvements are basically gone.

  • OP is discussing mythic +
  • Derez I assume is referring to a DungeonSlice simulation which is fitting considering the above dot point (6-7k)
  • You, I assume are referring to a patchwerk simulation (3-4k).

Not at all. The highest simming fury warriors currently sim pw for the 5-5.4k rank. The fury SimC profile sims for just over 6k. That profile is not perfectly optimized, which therefore means fury can at least slightly pass that on live, with a real character, before the next tier is released.

Hmm interesting, thanks mate

I sim over 4k patchwerk personally at only 200 ilvl. Ramp that up to 220, the ilvl all the WF peeps killed Mythic Denathrius at, and breaking well into 5k seems quite probable.

I was just using some people I took off Rio and from skyhold. Ran twenty people through sims at the 206-214 range, and six of them were over 5k.

Well technically one was only over 5k in variance, but I don’t have to admit that.
