It’s mid-season content in a .5 patch. Do you really think the kinds of players that are “Finishing the content on day 1” are not the most dedicated (and/or addicted) to this game?
These are the CE/HoF raiders doing this day 1. The grinders. I assure you these guys are still playing the game every single day for hours a day if they beat this content now or in 3 weeks. Meanwhile, my super casual friends logged in, said “Delves are neat” and haven’t been online in 5 months.
And that’s who we’re trying to retain here by stretching content out? To keep these guys for 3 weeks?
I say we implement a new forum rule that unless you have actually done coding and programming, you are not allowed to criticize minor bugs that will be soon fixed.
People have NO understanding of the millions of lines and commands it takes for the simplest of events, and all it takes is 1 typo anywhere, and it can bork the program.
Many of these people hollering about bugs, are in essence demanding a released code that is “perfect” without flaws.
This has yet to be achieved anywhere in the computer world, LOL.
Players - “Just push the perfect code button Blizzard FFS”.
Good gods it shows the lot of you have no actual clue about how things actually work. You all seem to think that releasing bug free content is as easy as swapping your spec/talents…that all Blizzard needs to do is just eyeball things better.
Good effing grief. Even “if” there are new processes to better produce and QA code come from these barrage of mishaps and public scorn, it’ll literally be patches down the line where we’ll even begin to notice. Feces rolling down the line isn’t going to get held back. 11.5/7 was well underway by the time that interview hit. Hell I don’t even expect the next major patch late into summer to be any different.
Truth be told I don’t expect any change at all. I have over 20 years of lived experiences with this company/game. Once upon an ancient time Blizzard would/did hold back and even pull patches because something got caught/realized late…but that was like the BC era at latest back in the inglorious days where Tuesday maintenance being an all day ordeal was the norm…and still patch day meant game was unplayable day.
Hell the guild I used to run with changed from having Tuesday raid nights just because how common it was for maintenance to be extended and this trickling down into people not getting the game patched and losing time for people to get online and then dealing with the dreaded portal boss…it was just safer to move it to Wednesday nights.
Also timegating stuff is quite the norm. Not a coincidence HV final row of talents won’t come online until June. Giving then track by month, a whole lot of accounts are going to get flagged as “active” in June just from that single decision point alone.
then they already had the bug, has to be someone who does NOT have it or has not started the visions yet, or hasnt done mage tower area yet.
Person i picked was someone i knew that did NOT do mage area yet, and they could see all the dots on the mage area followed them to help clear the portals and let them go upstairs first then i followed
It was their second ever run (well, second kn the revisited version) and they hadn’t done Mage Quarter before, but they still wound up with the 5/5 bug so I’m just confused.
even if they go near the gate at all and dont clear it it will bug on them, so doesnt matter if its first clear 2nd 3rd 4th 100th if they did any part of it and died or walked near the area it will bug unless they cleared it before dying and or completeing…all 10 of my friends who had this bug made sure we all had someone who did not go near mage tower at all during any runs… unless you know the person personally and they can prove they didnt go near mage tower at all during any runs then they did at some point…
people i told this too in /1 vision chat used it and every single one of them said it worked. even my community members and guild members all said it fixed it for them.
they also have to be LEAD/one to invite you to party and be the one to que for the event and be the one to talk to the person inside to start it
That is both true and untrue, especially in this case.
First, I don’t have to be a pro at something to say it could be done better. I am not a five star chef but if my food is cold the chef doesn’t get to say “hey if you can do better go home and cook.”
Second, it is their job, they have been working on this for how long? Including PTR, they should have noticed these things BEFORE players.
Third, and perhaps most interesting in this case, we have had visions before. Sure there are new masks but let’s not act like the entire thing has been created from scratch.
Fourth, final, and not related to the coding aspect. The timegating. This isn’t a new season it is an 11.5 patch, it isn’t even the first thing coming in the 11.5 patch it has been delayed a few weeks. And the entire thing doesn’t even drop day one?
To top that off by the time you can fill out your visions talent tree that is the week Duos comes out. So even aside from bugs the decision making in terms of time, timegating, and scheduling is questionable to say the least.
This, I don’t think any reasonable people are asking for totally bug free content.
But the last few releases, being unable to see your objective or progress during nightfall and now encountered areas that don’t open up for you in visions… that is an entirely different level.
Again going back to my restaurant analogy, if you give me food that has a little too much nutmeg that’s a small mistake and maybe not even a mistake just a taste preference thing. Heck if I order medium rare steak and it comes out medium I am not going to even bat an eye. But i f you forget to give me a my steak at all is a different level of problem.
To be fair I’ve seen alot of times people come here saying X is bugged when they are just missing something. Especially when I hadn’t personally seen any after doing 10+ Horrific Visions and 3 Mask solos.
It is confirmed however a weird bug they probably didn’t see in testing as to trigger the Mage Quarter bug you need to do something specific. Which seems to be the only bug for the content currently which is surprising that its only that bug.
I have done coding and programming and I can assure you we never churned out some of the nonsense they have and at the time, our code was even older.
You are under the impression they’ve never improved their code since day one (and that would be a wrong assumption).
No one is demanding perfection…what they are wanting is (at a minimum) the basics to work.
Here are some basic things still not working correctly:
NPC’s you have to click off or walk away from to re-engage with
Loot that you have to click 2, 3 or more times to get
Reputations (some times very old ones) disappearing
Basic quests for events that do not work either at all or bug out.
The list goes on.
They continue to release buggy events, buggy patches wrapped around the marketing spew “we’ll do better next time” but “next time” never seems to arrive.
Folks are getting tired of just the “let them eat cake” attitude from MicroActaBlizz.
Not sure why the LOL (people love to over use that “LOL” on things)…but once again, I’ve not seen anywhere someone say they expect perfect code or prefect computers.
That’s fair, and if it’s one person hopping on the forums usually we can figure it out for them. But when I see multiple people on the forums, in trade chat and in a stream saying they are experiencing the same issue at that point I think it’s safe to assume something is wrong.
There is definitely a middle ground, but too many people are quick to say “I did quest Y so it’s definitely working and anyone who says otherwise is wrong.”
