I won't be bribed

I will not be playing any of my Horde characters during BfA. I have not logged onto any of them since before the War of the Thorns event started. None of my current Horde characters would follow Sylvanas during or after the War of the Thorns, and I’m not going to level a new character that thematically would. I especially would not play any of the Horde’s war campaign. As that is not an option in BfA, I would rather wait and pay for a 120 boost for each of them to skip the entirety of that content. And because of that, I am choosing to skip out on this sweet looking Alliance Wolf mount:

Lorewise, I’m not even sure what this mount has to do with Zandalar or Kul’Tiras, since its description is:

"Captured in the snows of Alterac Valley, this bloodthirsty hunter now roars for the Alliance."

But what about you? Have you done both sides of the content already? Do you plan to if you haven’t? Or would you rather not do the Alliance side? Or like me, would you rather not do the Horde side?

I’ll get it, since I’ve done every quest, but I’m not excited about it.

While most of my characters are Alliance, I have always maintained at least one max level character on the Horde. …Currently I have two max level Horde characters and am (slowly) leveling up two more.

I’ve got my issues with how the faction war story has been handled on the Horde, don’t get me wrong. And there’s been more then a couple of Horde quests that felt rather uncomfortable to do. And yet I still find a lot to enjoy on the Horde side.

I’ll actually go as far as to say that I find the story of Zandalar, when taken on it’s own, is actually one of the best large-scale storylines Blizzard has written in some time. And when you are an hour or two deep into the swamps of Nazmir, it’s easy to lose track of the faction war storyline it technically exists within.

I wish I had your integrity.

I’m getting it cause Ive done everything already. Horse is meh. Wolf looks neat though.

Ah yes. The classic wisdom that there are two sides to every story in achievement form.

Alliance perspective: “The Horde is evil.”

Horde perspective: “The Horde is evil.”

Such brilliant insight.

I guess if it makes you feel better, but the game’s still going to treat you as if you went through the main story beats of BFA content so your horde characters will have canonically done this whether you pay for a level skip or not.

The game actually rather rarely makes reference back to previous content. For example, both Mount Hyjal and Val’sharah don’t really hold Horde players accountable for the Horde invading Night Elf territory in the old world revamp.

Ironic to bring it up now, but still, I actually doubt much from BfA will be addressed in the expansion after BfA or beyond.

My main reason for playing this game is for collections. I already had an Alliance character with all the criteria done except Jaina’s questline, which I was adamant I wasn’t going to do until today.

I feel dirty enough playing Alliance as it is without having to help that cow.

Eh I’ve been trying to do it on my Paladin but that Honorbound rep grind is bleh. I’m still not sure whether to side with Saurfang because I don’t like Sylvanas or Sylvanas just for the hell of it. Any thoughts on that one Horde players?

Oh look, more horses and wolves.

Pass.

Yeah. More done on Dreadmoore than Treng, but Treng has almost unlocked Zandalari.

I respect your decision, but I want to make Old Man Thor and I need Kul’Tirans to do that.

Most of my characters are Alliance. But I always take one Horde toon through their quest chains. This way I see the full story. And more than just listening to what people say, as that tends to be incomplete or even inaccurate much of the time.

I’ll probably level my Alliance character towards the end of the expansion during the last tier drought when everything isn’t time gated and we have flying. I don’t have the patience otherwise.

I need a few of the Horde achievements, but it will be done sometime soonish.

I don’t really see a mount existing that can only be gotten through content you don’t want to do being really an issue. That is true for just about every PvP mount for me. They are somewhat shiny but it isn’t like there aren’t other wolf mounts on the Alliance and a horse mount is, well, a horse.

They are clearly wanting people to play both sides which makes sense from a development resource standpoint.

i could not bring myself to touch my horde alts i feel… just bad.
as for how things are right now i refuse to do the stormwind scenario, i want that jaina kills my horde characters and that canonically they stay dead.

hopefully, once the last patch drops maybe i could feel good about playing horde again to try to get the mount since i am a collector as well.
Depends entirely on what will happen in 8.2. 8.2.5 and 8.3.

I’m usually bribable with pets and mounts, but nothing will induce me to do the Horde war campaign.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some fishing to attend to.

I used to feel the exact same way (I also have a soft spot for Goblins, and have a Blood Elf Death Knight to RP as a High Elf because blue eyes). But in the era of Youtube, it’s becoming unnecessary to actually play through content myself and still get the full context of the story. I still prefer to, but as I said, not for BfA.

I definitely agree. It’s why I specifically wrote that it is my choice not to get the mounts.

Opposite, I also hate PvP, but will be doing it again this season for this sweet mount:

I can understand that. And I do not blame you.

Personally, youtube just lacks a bit. Often little bits get missed. NPC conversations you don’t hear/see. So, for me doing it myself just makes it feel like a more complete picture.

That said, I have long told people that if you are not having fun playing a game, do something else. If you can’t do a Horde toon in this expac without being annoyed, don’t play it. Games are for fun.
