It’s hard to tell when someone is joking, right?
Or we can just use herd immunity. As we should.
100% Agree. This isn’t a “think about grandma!” situation. Grandma can take care of herself and do the procedures to keep grandma healthy.
I’m good on doing what I’ve been doing for the past going on 2 years now.
And there’s a lot of them that can’t get the shot for medical reasons, which is why they depend on everyone else also doing what they can to protect themselves.
That’s the thing, they can’t always take it, same with newborns, or pregnant women. It’s called herd immunity. You protect the few that can’t protect themselves.
I guess that all depends on how rapidly this experiment changes to different variants. I don’t know, I got the shot because I have heart disease and it’s safer(in my opinion) than risking it. Plus, I’m tired of being at home all the time and want to go to the office.
Do you have a science based degree? (and, no, I am not talking Enviro Econ, or any of the other soft degrees) Honest question here, before I continue on.
Two things - first your chance of surviving is two orders of magnitude greater than 99%
Second, those who are at risk of death from the virus are the ones who are perhaps the best candidate for the vaccine. You have to weight your risks one against the other. But if you tell me that the “vaccine” does not protect those at risk people then you have to ask yourself what is it actually doing at all?
One thing is certain however, the goal should NEVER be an attempt to eradicate the virus. We can no more do that than we can eradicate influenza. This thing is out there, it’s never going away. Like influenza it will probably change every year and there will be new outbreaks, just like the flu. No one is ever safe from everything in this world, you know that. All we can do is minimize our personal risk. And for me the lowest risk thing I can do is wait.
Umm… I have news for you. Florida requires vaccinations and has for decades. COVID is not on there yet, but a whole lot more vaccines are.
Vaccines are not scary.
Then take what precautions are available. Hell, walk around in a hazmat suit if they need too.
What did Spock say? The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or one.
It’s not my job, or yours, or anyone else’s to protect everyone on the planet. First off it’s impossible, second, each person has a responsibility to themselves.
This gene therapy was approved for EMERGENCY USE ONLY, and before these gene therapies were forced on the unsuspecting public by the US government, the companies manufacturing them told the US government that more testing is required before the gene therapies would be safe. The US government promised these companies immunity from litigation stemming from the side effects these gene therapies will have and then told them to start mass producing them(for the most massive, unpaid drug testing program the US has ever seen).
I have three words for all those lining up to get this gene therapy: Gulf War Syndrome.
Semper Fi!
I do but that’s irrelevant. Everyone should be doing their own research so they can make an informed decision. I mean, this is WoW GD, everything expressed is purely opinion.
I got my shots but later than I would have wanted (mid/late May and the 2nd in early June). Generally still avoid going out and haven’t been wearing that accursed itchy mask when I have, but will start doing it again because of all the pieces of feces who trust crackpot conspiracy therorists over actual data and scientists and the predicted and rapid surgance of variant strains and even reinfections.
I’d even support a government mandate telling people to get their shots (this would include all the big ones and not just covid) or no public access or services/support. This would include getting medical help if/when you end up catching something we, as a species, should have eradicated long ago.
I know that I am personally sick and tired of this country (and even our world) split on issues we absolutely should not be split on. Let the stupid die out so the rest of society can move on and progress.
People should not have a choice on these things when they can cause others to literally die. The only exception to someone getting vaccines should be because multiple independent and trusted doctors (vetted and constantly watched by oversight committees) can definitively prove a person has valid medical reasons for not getting it. No religious exemptions, no crackpot doctors giving waivers out based off their own belief, no “muh freedums bro” exceptions…you benefit from and live in a society and are damn well going to be subject to the minor inconveniences it occasionally asks of you. In this case, getting a free shot or set of shots to protect yourself and fellow citizens (including those who can’t get it for valid medical reasons) from easily preventable and what should be extinct diseases.
Honestly, nowadays…
yeah kinda.
This is me.
Compromised immune system and I’m still not allowed in crowded places, because of the delta variant. The lambda variant is completely immune to the current vaccine, too.
I have lived in FL my entire life, You have no news for me. Covid is not and will not be, nor any other flu vaccine.
Do not compare covid or any flu or cold to a disease that has double diget fatalety rates.
I’ve been fully Moderna-ed since May.
Having seen my company’s home office - which got off very light in previous waves - lose at least a quarter of its staff to home-quarantines in the last three weeks, I don’t regret my decision at all.
93% effectiveness after six months. Best of the bunch. Wonder if my mention of it in this post will get this one deleted too? lol
Then I am hoping you have also taken Microbiology, Advanced Micro, Biochem, Molecular Cell Biology, A & P, Pathology and Epidemiology. Although… to me, it seems you have not.
I am not saying that to be disagreeable. I am saying that based on having that essential background knowledge in the sciences, and still making anti-vaccination statements, you are going against everything we know from a scientific standpoint about viruses and how they work.
This is true, modern day vaccines are usually safe and mostly effective (I think the annual influenza shots are rather hit or miss but better than nothing).
However, while IANAL, my understanding is that these covid shots do not fit under the legal definition of “vaccine”. And as I have mentioned before they are the first of their kind to ever be used on human beings. There is much we don’t know about their long term effects. So that makes them maybe a bit more scary than a common vaccine.
