You guys have already lost track of the discussion. Fecks was the one who said it. Sick was the one who came in to defend and turned it into being about Fauci’s original comment at the start of the pandemic. The fact that you can’t track a 3 person dialog consisting of less than a dozen messages explains why neither of you can understand how masking helps, though.
I am not trying to argue as I have a question. My question for you and it has always bothered me slightly so I have wondered. When the mask mandate was released and people where told if you got fully vaccinated you no longer need to wear it in public. How many do you think are not vaccinated walking around those places? That to me is a scary thought but very possible why it is still spreading among our population.
There was that 1 time many years ago we all died and could spread to unaffected players with ease. Wait there was a recent plague in game before shadowlands that literally made me social distance less I turn into a ghoul.
We’re around 50% in my state and I see like maybe 2-3% wearing masks when I go out. Pretty sure they are the ones who are vaccinated and trying to go by CDC recommendations. I very much doubt it’s unvaccinated.
You’re about to hear from a lot of people who get their medical advice from QAnon people wearing lab coats in their basement.
If anyone is able to safely get a vaccine then they should have one. Any excuse they come up other than a valid medical reason to not have one is an excuse and they’re wrong.
I hope that is true, because when my state was around 50% I live in a small city with tons of towns nearby. The amount of people that where walking around without masks was unreal and we are not allowed to ask a customer anything about there status. About 25% of the work force still wears masks at our store, but it has always been my wonder if even 1% of those running around mask-less are not vaccinated because they can’t stand wearing it for even 30 minutes to shop.
Not a question of mandated or not. You still have your free will. Just recognize that the large body of science disagrees with their choice and to counter that, they will need even more evidence. The FDA’s EUA process is simply a matter of rigorous testing + weighing of pros and cons. If they determine that the benefit is greater than the risk, then it gets authorized. Remember, they’re also concerned with the nation at large not just the individual.
Also recognize that individual nations, businesses, and people also have the freedom to distance themselves from unvaccinated people. You’ll shout, “discrimination!” and yeah, you’re right, it is discrimination. Not all discrimination is bad.
What’s funny is that all the people who are using the whole “authorized, not approved!” argument will still very likely remain unmoved in their position against the vaccine.
There are so many people who are still against all kinds of vaccinations, despite them being approved by multiple authorities.
I’m fast approaching “I don’t care” attitude. Once kids can get it, that only leaves the immunocompromised and they are going to have to hunker down a while, either way. But I agree, people need to stop whining about having to wear a mask. It’s not a big deal. I can sympathize with those who have to wear them all day for work, but it is what it is. It could be worse.
I’ve said this before, but my frustrations lie in the stalling of progress due to misinformation, which has been a fight from the very beginning. I want to try and get back to some semblance of normal and I see all the anti-vax rhetoric as a direct threat to that progress. My motives are mainly selfish.
Ah yes, follow the science, minus the science that says children are low vectors of transmission and are not heavily affected. Please continue to talk down to people from your enlightened, ivory tower.
The FDA process is that if a drug may be effective it can get authorized, for the drug to be approved they need to prove it’s safe and effective. If the science is overwhelming then it should be released, problem is the science isn’t complete since review is a normal part of science and drug marketing in the US and it’s definitely there for a reason. If the FDA is unwilling to commit to approval they cannot expect people to commit to taking a risk for the very same reasons that it hasn’t been approved.
As for the rest of it you seem to have a rather negative view of people following the mandate for the EUA. If there isn’t supposed to be a real choice let them risk the legislation rather than trying to convince people who aren’t being vaccinated because they feel manipulated and take the risk of constitutionality and potential unforeseen impact. In essence that means people need to have a choice same as the FDA and the government.
I’ve seen precedent for businesses requiring vaccination, military mandates go back to the revolutionary war. I bet lawyers will attempt to use the FDA statement about EUA vaccines being voluntary to file suit, I don’t know enough about law to guess their chances but the couple of articles I did read seemed to support their legality.
For a lot of people medical care is looking up potential treatments on the internet or an ER visit so it’s not as simple as going to their doctor, it’s a consequence of our healthcare system. Understand it’s not that people are dumb or brainwashed, they’re distrustful.
I am vaccinated but I just support the right of people to make their own decisions. Why do you assume I’m not? If a discussion bothers you you have the option to not read it, same as the EUA gives people the right to make their own choice (although there can be consequences to their choices).
