Shadowlands is indeed the single best and greatest selling WoW expansion of all time.
It’s also the one with the single largest group of unsubscribers as well.
Most bought, most ditched.
That’s not a good sign.

That’s because Blizzard sold people on the hope that "well this isn’t BFA and prior to SL Blizzard had the track record of good expansion, meh expansion, good expansion, bad expansion. People were hoping this was going to be a good expansion and turned out worse than BFA. That’s why wow has been absolutely bleeding subs since SL launch.
It taste like chicken.
Funny. It’s not.
I’ve a problem with WoW and i’ll complain about it any time because it works, there’s so much time sinks, Right now i don’t enjoy the lore or SL systems but i’ve to level up 50 characters to 50 for the love rocket, i don’t know if next year they will move the carrot to minimum level 60 that’ll force me to lvl up again.
There’s also some few mounts that i still miss but are behind time sinks with huge grinds or really nasty drop rates that are just abusive and don’t respect the player.
I like fried chicken
If SL has two weaknesses, it’s story and required time sinks.
The Story is, if there, too well hidden.
The Time Sinks are just there to force any given player to spend far too much time grinding and forcing themselves through unrewarding content because the story failed to invest me, at least, into the current expansion’s fights.
This is very bad and could legit kill the game on its own the actual wow will kill wow scenario if its true .
I do see the symptoms in game though . Blizzard Employees are boosting driving token sales , boosting ads are still up in LFDs …zzzzzzzz
It IS both entirely possible and totally likely that WoW’s only profits of late are from token sales.
And if true, that quite clearly spells disaster for Wow.
If true, SL is the most bought, most ditched, expansion. EVER.
And if the token sales are the only thing keeping WoW afloat right now?
The WoW we’ve all known and loved for the past 17 years is already on its way out.
As much as I wouldn’t buy tokens with real money I don’t think it will kill the game. I think people will get used to it, if they haven’t already, and accept it.
I do believe that excessive timegating will Hemorrhage more people, and even then still not kill it.
Blizzard is going to go by what they think will make the most money. I dont believe a few extra months subscription time gating is worth how many people they’ve lost from it. What do i know?
But it is true this was the best selling expansion and it is turned into whatever’s left… financially this expansion was a success Beyond imagining. It’s management was an utter failure. They had so much money coming their way… shame
I thought for sure we’d see some kind of listening to the players in 9.2 but instead we’re getting water like we’ve never seen before, water we can walk on for some reason…
That and a mobile game grind. What complete TRASH. I hate what wow’s become. I wish it was better but might as well accept it and move on.
So you’ve never played it at its best. 10 years is Noob territory for what this game once was.
Exactly.
While I love classic and burning Crusade end game… leveling was atrocious
I hope you can find something you enjoy doing with your time.
We all have opinions.
Which has been a thing for years with these types of zones. Nothing new.
Hopefully you find something worth doing. You have stated numerous times that you don’t even play this game, so there’s no reason to waste countless hours bashing it on a forum.
We all have opinions.
The only ones who should be embarrassed are the ones who spend countless hours on the forum complaining about a game they say they don’t even play. Just move on if it’s so bad.
Everything tastes like chicken, but what does chicken taste like?
Leveling used to be an important part of the game. They hollowed it out into what retail has become. So grats, retail utterly sucks and has trivial leveling where you round up mobs and mow them down.
I’m okay with that cuz I really really hated classic leveling
Leveling that matters and an endgame that does not utterly ignore leveling and yet builds on it in meaningful ways.
It’s like Blizzard forgot how to innovate and create new, fun ways to play!
Nope, Activision and it’s forced Time Played metric strike again.
That was 16 years ago.
