I wish we had the ability to science experiment SS

SS environment, 2 teams:

  1. R1 Healer paired with 2 random class scrubs.

  2. Scrub healer paired with an R1 DPS (Melee) and another random scrub.

I’m guessing the team with the R1 DPS wins most of the time…

Illustrating the point that healers are actually not that impactful, when it comes to a first kill scenario.

Especially since there is no communication or understanding going on (stand in my earthern, spirit link, dome, etc…

I honestly don’t see any way to make this game mode fun for healers.

That’s excluding the fact only 2 healers are actually really good atm, while the rest have terrible defensives or mobility, or both.

Really is so true. So much easier for a Dps to carry then healers. RSS is mostly me hoping I get paired with the good Dps more times then the other healer

Probably would be closer than you think. A good healer vs a bad healer is night and day. Even though healers feel like they have little agency over the game that is only because there is 1 of them for every 2 dps at their skill level. Healers bring INSANE amounts of value to every match.

I suspect the r1 healer would win.

I thought it was mostly hoping for a favorable lineup and that the other healer doesn’t leave.

Oh, yeah, healer gaps can be real, but they always get dodged. :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

Also I’m a realist…

Keep playing a healer hoping for a miracle revamp? Or just reroll DPS, and become part of the horde asking for DPS only queues?

I’m pretty sure they will win out…

I find it almost impossible to believe they will revamp 4 healing specs to be as mobile, and free casting as Evokers and Druids. Priests still don’t have an interrupt, cyclone is in a class of its own. Defensives? Another story. Bad Mastery? Sorry Paladins.

They will take the easy way out and offer Tokens, probably to give to DPS alts, which means everyone will AFK their best through X games as a healer, so they can play on their main. Problem solved for DPS, healing still sucks.

Well, they’ll fix leavers in the next few weeks, probably, but that’ll just result in unavoidable lopsided healer matchups in some cases.

Healers can still climb to whatever rating they want, the ascend just won’t be as sharp as a giant dps.

I don’t think so…there is no coordination. The DPS can ALREADY solo, whatever target he wants most likely, minus the R1 healer, all he would have to do is say…someone CC healer when I say, or just dog pile on X player, he’s the weakest link…

Not enough healing/time to save that player in this Meta.

Once your not able to afk out and save your MMR, I feel most healers will only use solo to get quick gear, and then move on to 2’s or 3’s for actual transmogs, rewards, or actual titles. As it works currently, most healers dig themselves into a hole that’s not worth fighting to get out of due to disparity.

Maybe a handicap value for healers? Basically set them at some exaggerated mmr at lower playing, or if playing against a much higher rated healer, so at worst you lose a few, gain, if you win, and this erodes as your rating increases, so you eventually have to perform at a high level?

Both healers get paired with each DPS an equal number of times. If there’s an exceptionally weak DPS that just gets wrecked every round, both healers will go 3-3.

You did set it up in a shuffle situation. The rank one healer can just as easily point out the weak link as the dps can in your experiment.

What happens when the healer tells his two dps to kill the enemy healer and to use all of their cc on the rank 1 dps? When the rank 1 healer is also using his cc on the rank 1 dps and he is unable to play the game.

That match up would be really weird, and if the healer is able to sustain people normally against 2 other dps around his skill level he shouldn’t have any problem doing it against 1.

I say it would probably be closer than you think because depending on the specs I think it would go both ways. And it might not be in ways you would expect.

Say rank 1 dps is playing something op like a DH. He might not have the burst to eat through people fast enough, but maybe a rank 1 ret or devoker which are weaker classes could find windows to just delete people.

Maybe the rank 1 healer is on a evoker that can immune cc, reposition his dps, burst people, and cc people really well. Or he is on a rsham that can’t keep his dps in his earthen totem.
It’s just a weird experiment. I agree healers at their correct MMR have less impact over the win/loss of the game than the dps, but that is largely because there is more dps.

If healers didn’t have an impact you would never see a 6-0 healer or 5-1 healer in shuffle and I’ve seen a lot of those. Even with mismatched dps as well.

Huh ??? You realize you get to play with every DPS combo possible and so does the other healer right ?

Dps = A B C D … Your 6 matches will be

a+b
c+d
a+d
b+c
a+c
b+d

And so will the other Healer… it is literally the reason there is 6 matches… Sorry you have spent a lot of time “hoping” you get the good DPS… because you have and have not every single match. The only constant on YOUR team is YOU.

Exactly.

So the super DPS goes 6-0 and gains a boatload of rating, while you…loving the 3 games that were easy wins…gains…NOTHING…and so does the other healer!

What a waste of time for playing heals…

The only reason you go + is because maybe some rando matchups are better comp based vs others, or there is another equally skilled DPS giving you wins…

I’ve watched a ton of high rated healers playing SS…its all BS…they either afk out to save MMR, or go all agro NON ARENA SPEC builds to force a quick kill, going full DPS. Healing is beyond stupid in the SS Meta.
