I dunno about that. The whole point of M+ is that the highest keys will only be completed by the most skilled players, and it is definitely a skill to be able to cat-weave and not let people die.
As for the OP, yeah, obviously the ability for different healers to contribute damage should be balanced better. I misread the OP and thought OP was asking for healer DPS from certain healers to be removed from the game, so that “no healers did damage”, when he was really saying he wants all healers to be able to equally contribute damage/healing.
Hello, I will back Malouda and am posting on my main. I’m only mid-tier of high content pushers (only 4/10M, only 2300 io), but he is right. Only the worst healers think damage is bad. You should function as extra dps and only be healing when there’s things to heal. We’ve had various recruits come into our mythic team and we’re not Hall of Fame or anything like that but the healers who don’t do damage are actively making it harder to kill the boss
Also he’s right both your io and raid progression are so low you shouldn’t be giving opinions on meta.
Okay, you’re not understanding what he/she is saying. They’re not saying healers shouldn’t do damage in keys… they’re saying Blizzard should design the game such that healers shouldn’t be expected to do damage without being called a scrub.
I don’t agree with that mindset, but it’s a completely valid mindset to have. Some people signed up as a healer to heal, not to be a support DPS class.
The “meta” hardly applies to anyone who talks about it anyway. People who are chasing +20’s and +23’s should have already accepted the fact that they’re going to play whatever is “meta” at the time because there will always be a “best” spec, and most of those people aren’t posting on here. I’d guess 99% of the people in this thread do not push content like that. So, by your own opinion, we shut the whole damn thread down.
This thread should maybe have like 2 posters going off your own opinion on who should be giving opinions on meta.
Timmy, or whatever. Your ego seems to be at play here.
Maybe tackle the actual point presented rather than injecting your own point as if it was the original one.
I’ll give you a head start
@Sunzsu, not being able to do meaningful damage sounds boring, what are you supposed to do once all your team mates are at full health?
Your right that the effectiveness of gaining more healing output or more damage reduction beyond what is needed tends to have very little effect on how far people can put keys or how quickly they can do bosses.
Which is exactly what the OP is asking, healers doing dps is (and to a degree always has been) expected, the problem is simple to understand however.
When healers are selected not because of their healing but because they do the most dps of the healing classes.
How can the dev’s seemingly balance healing output so well but still allow 2 healing specs to have more damage output than other healing specs without having to give up healing output to do it (or even gaining more healing output because of their dpsing)
Either all Healing spec need to gain healing by way of their dps and do roughly the same dps or all healing specs need to have to give up healing output to dps and do roughly the same dps.
Or there needs to be a trade off in healing for dps output, but this has clear problems attached to it that I don’t think I should need to explain.
I’m sorry friend, but there’s no way the game is designed that would make it practical for a healer to be healing with 100% uptime. Mana would have to be buffed and it’d be incredibly boring to afk when no damage is going out. Regardless of whether there’s hard or soft dps checks on a boss, more dps from any role you can get is going to make everything easier.
And i think the ultimate point being made is not whether Sunzsu is right or wrong but whether she’s really equipped to have an opinion on healer metas when she hasn’t stepped foot inside even heroic tarragrue and hasn’t even seen the tormented affix this season. It’s like you writing to the NBA commissioner your ideas on pro basketball rule changes because you play at the YMCA with a bunch of white collar overweight dudes.
No one said it’s a crime or immoral to only do low tier PvE content like Sunzsu does, no idea why she gets defensive about it.
Yeah, this is really dumb. I hate the sort of “Nothing matters unless you’re doing the absolute hardest stuff” mindset some people seem to have. Limit Max used to say this dumb %%%% on stream and he’s finally chilled out about it as his audience has expanded and received rightful push-back.
People can absolutely have opinions about the game and express their thoughts about how the game impacts them in their local level of play. It’s a problem when people act like they’re an authority of course but I never got the sense that was what was going on.
Oh, I absolutely agree.
I remember healing in older expansions. Channeling your most mana efficient heal and then canceling it if the tank didn’t get hit over and over and over is the most low-skill boring %%%% imaginable. Peak boomer gameplay. I’m just saying that is what they are arguing, not that they are saying healers shouldn’t do damage as the game stands now.
Why? Why would someone not have a right to express what they find fun in the game and the direction they’d like to see the game go in?
