I weirdly miss gems/enchants/etc

There’s nothing weird about it. The older systems were so much better.

It seriously feels like some role-playing chemistry fan has been in charge of professions for a few years now.

If the majority of your raids mains aren’t all alchemists I’d be surprised.

Yes, there is no meaningful choice with the enchants. I miss elixirs too. It would be nice to have some options other than one flask for tanks and one for everyone else. The weapon oil system with the matching potions would have been interesting if it were good. Unfortunately on my casters, just using an int potion is better. I suspect we’ll see more gemming in later raid tiers.

I miss useful professions. They did it right in WotLK where the professions all gave a consistent benefit. There wasn’t a meta other than maxxing your professions because they made the benefit consistent. I was so disappointed when my alchemist stone was useless after the first couple weeks this expansion. Fishing is deathly boring too. Where are the fun little drops to fish up?

Same. Plus without reforging, this would allow us a lot of customization of our stats.

Which is something I hate about the game meta these days.

I loved how useful professions were, and the variety of gems and enchants, etc, you could use to tweak your build.

not a fan of everything in the game now forcing you into a cookie cutter build and style.

I miss profession armor enhancements. I have no idea why they removed such an immersive/necessary part of the RPG experience and profession importance.

Because, for some people, having a huge list of profession items they could craft for others WAS their end-game content.

I enjoyed farming mats and recipes to supply people doing raids with their enhancements and consumables, not actually running the content.

“Meaningful” content is subjective in meaning. Like, I don’t consider raids or speed runs a meaningful activity.

Unfortunately all of the professions have been gutted in the name of “balance” sure they’re all more “balanced” now but at what cost? At the cost of choice, at the cost of complexity, at the cost of fun. Oh well, eh?

Sorry but I seem to recall quite a few quests were we craft legendaries. Hard to believe blizzard couldn’t add in recipes with similar locks and make them BIS.

Whaaaat, you don’t like running the same content over and over again for the same reward with slightly higher numbers???

Kinda like torghast where you can craft a bis legendary item for minimal effort? Hmmmmm

You’re basically asking for parts of the game that already exist just to be recycled into professions and act like it’s something different

Its one example, writing off a system is kind of stupid. Literally any system CAN work. Theres nothing stopping bliz from finally implementing a rare item drop crafting system.

Or even something as simple as the enchanted reagents not being literally worthless lmao

Yes but where are these legendary or bis recipes for professions going to come from? It’s going to have to come from high end content like mythic raiding, in which case you’re just changing some rewards from actual gear drops from the boss, to recipes instead that you can craft. It would essentially be no different between crafting that recipe or just having the item itself drop from the boss.

What are you going to do? Have bis/legendary items or other crafted things be tradeable or sellable on the AH and not just be soulbind? Cause if that’s the case the game becomes far more pay to win with just buying tokens and just buying those items off the AH. So it’s not like blizz could make any of it tradeable.

If it is sellable on the AH you will have people ding 60, and just drop a few hundred dollars on tokens, and immediately be geared and caught up to others who have put months into gearing

You really love slippery slopes huh?

It was a real tragedy when world bosses in classic dropped recipes, I know.

Imagine the horror of expanding the trade window to include soulbound materials in the crafting slot. Imagine my shock when they understand that consumables can have durations.

Narrowing your ideas to what wow has already done is pretty pointless.

It’s because some people live in the past where the game wasn’t nearly as competitive as it is now and can’t realize that balancing player power has become a huge priority for blizzard and the competitive aspect of the game.

Disagree with me all you want it doesn’t change the fact that the game is far more competitive now than it used to be and that blizzard has to ensure stuff like professions or other easy ways of getting top end items don’t break the game. I mean you treat it like I’m personally attacking what you want when in reality it’s just a realization of what the game is and why it’s the way it is. You can either see it or you can’t and you disagreeing with me changes nothing.

So competetive that the m+ competition is a 20k prize pool lmao

I play korean shovelware mmos that have higher prize pools. Why don’t you take a look at how many viewers MDI had compared to, idk lets be fair and say a Path of Exile season launch

Totally agree with your thoughts.

Sadly, professions are just something that has been mostly forgotten…
Yea yea, they are still there but not like they use to be.

I got over professions once Blizz destroyed the glyphs - I worked hard to level it, keep it and create things. Then they made it full of crapola and junky - so after that, I have them only to level to make stuff for me and nothing else - if I don’t max 'em - meh - who cares.

You absolutely can expect that. Blizzard doesn’t have to allow it, but that’s squarely on Blizzard. I see no reason not to blame Blizzard for this. Other MMO’s with crafting have absolutely had crafted gear that’s competitive (or BiS) without ruining the game.

remember when inscription was a whole system with a full UI, now its make cards for the first patch that are obsolete before x.1 and a few very minor spell appearance changes.

This is when I thought - forget it – it was a pain to level inscription and costly and then they went and destroyed it… I thought never again will I put in that much work only to have it gutted.
