Im happy I got my 6700xt at msrp. Simply waited and searched for 4 months and finally snagged one. Also my first amd card.

Took me a month to find a compatible 4gb card at a descent price
I’ve been looking at Alienware desktops and it’s all about the gpu price

Yeah, the video card situation is grim. I finally broke down and bought a RTX 3060Ti. It hurt. 
The pandemic has affected the supply chain for everything. Including computer equipment. Those 2080s are probably out of stock, snatched up by customers who noticed the prices going up first.
look at the 20 series if you dont want to spend that much, granted you alredy have a 1080, its still capable of most anything unless your trying to run forza or flight sim at max graphics.
to upgrade is for nothing more then bragging rights honestly, and if that be the case you are going to have to pay for it…
if yours works just ride it out till a new card comes out and people will abandon their 30 series just like they did the 20s and 10s

Join fixitfixitfixit youtube channel and wait for a best buy drop. I got my 3070 ti for MSRP that way. You cant be choosy during a BB drop you have to try and snag what you can. I wanted the EVGA 3080 but wound up with the EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3070 ti
Best Buy drop will be the only REAL chance to get it at MSRP
Not true in the least, the waitlist from EVGA also has them at MSRP.
Waited about 4 months, but got my 3070ti for 600
I tried doing Bestbuy drops and the bots always got there before me.
I was giving the best example of something with no criteria. You have to be an elite member for that.
I literally hopped on his channel during a drop and had my graphics card a week later. It was pretty EZ
You don’t have to be anything for the EVGA wait list. My brother just signed up for a few different cards and took the first two that dropped (he got a 3070 and i got a 3070ti)
Every time I tried to do a best buy drop it was already out of stock before I could even hit add to cart.

I bought my PC on Craigslist, I just needed one good enough for WoW and I was tired of playing on a laptop.
Nah the drop last about 30min it continuously dops cards over 30min. Provided you are not choosy have about 20 tabs open you will get one. Just be on the channel at the start of the drop. The guy even goes over how to get one prior to the drop. Got one for both me and my brother with no preplanning of any kind. Showed up for the drop twice. 1st time I got myself a card and the second time got one for a family member each one took about a week. Then picked it up at best buy. EZ PZ
It might have changed in the recent times. When I was trying to get one it was back in Dec.

A 1080ti will do a 42" TV @ 4k on 7 settings for WoW. While also streaming to Twitch at 1080p, recording at 4k, AND running a second monitor at 1440x900, all at the same time. I’ve even watched videos/streams during all this, and no performance hits.
WoW is much more CPU intensive than GPU, so as long as you have a good CPU, you’re good. Don’t worry about upgrading yet. Going from 10 settings to 7 isn’t THAT noticeable. Certainly not thousands of dollars worth noticeable.
TBF, the OP didn’t even talk about wow, he even specifically mentioned “newer games”
Just went to check on the EVGA waitlist…

It has. With that youtube channel its pretty EZ to get one now. Provided you know and understand the process and are ready to go at the start of the drop. I have directed everyone I know to them. Out of 5 people 4 got cards. The 5th person focused on one card w hich is what I told him NOT to do. Its the only reason he didnt get one

I’m still using my GeForce GTX 1060
I wanted to build a new PC about 8 months ago, but the lack of getting a video card at a decent price has stopped me.
WoW runs perfect on this card, just sucks for new games.

I have a Ryzen 3600 using an RX 580 8 gig. Boy oh boy would i love to upgrade to an AMD 6000 series. Not for the price that’s being asked though. I’ll have to milk that RX 580 until it blows up i guess.
