I want to talk directly to devs

Video game players are so bizarre. Just because you buy and play a game does not mean you suddenly get to tell the developers how to make it.

“I’m A pAyInG cUsToMeR”

Feedback is great, however this forum is not really the place for it. This forum is for discussing the game with other players.

Using the in-game feedback tool is the best way to offer feedback.

Prove your worth, give valuable feedback, do the math, show you play the content you are critiquing. Then maybe they’ll invite you to the private forum feedback forum where you can talk to devs 1 on 1.

Just because they don’t comment doesn’t mean they don’t know what’s going on.

They probably read much more than we think but over 50% of forum stuff is nothing but complaining. I’m guilty of it for sure.

You are mischaracterizing my intent and if everyone had your pov they’d never do anything to make anything better. Sorry bro.

Sorry, I wasn’t implying you. Some of these responses you’re getting. Lol

Also, advising you to offer feedback where it is useful won’t make anything better, but shouting into the void of General Discussion will?

It’s a bad thing to assume that what you see is all that there is. :upside_down_face: But you’re right just doing that would amount to nothing and I’d be joining the masses who did the same, although that’s not to say that the people who have posted here for years voicing their dissatisfaction are wrong but rather that we need to take a more direct approach.

For example, they sent out the emails asking players if they wanted classic, and the overwhelming majority said yes. Then they took that and basterdized classic and we have what is now wow classic and wow classic tbc. Sure it’s definitely helped the income flow but it has also proved that no matter what part of the game they are working on the only thing they will ever do is what they think is right and what they think will bring in money. Undoubtedly, classic is a cash cow ripe and ready to be abused, and they will abuse it all the way to wrath or cata. Just like how humans can live in super harsh and inhumane conditions, wow players have proven that they can play a depraved version of their childhood memories and enjoy the burn of their nostalgia as it’s being tainted presently as well as the ever suffering retail version of the game.

I’m honestly surprised that Classic is as pure as it is. What happened with TBC is not surprising at all.

Anybody over the age of 10 knows that the game has millions of subscribers and it is completely unreasonable for one player to expect to get an audience with the developers. There are thousands of deluded people who think they have a great idea to save the game, if only somebody would listen to them. Should the developers waste their time talking to hundreds of thousands of people with “great ideas” on the off chance that maybe one of several hundred thousand is worth listening to?

This is probably why they only listen to ideas from their stockholders and professionals since there needs to be a way to differentiate from the crowd.

How would you know if anything is worth something if you don’t try? Besides the majority of improvements or suggestions I’ve seen are heavily skewed towards pve. Aside from people complaining on their specific class forums I haven’t seen anything ever being remotely close to what I have in mind. Your post does encourage me though so thank you.

Good luck, OP. They don’t communicate much on this side of the forum anymore, I’m sure for good reason. In the most recent past of them trying to communicate with retail players on the forum the players immediately start bashing them, calling for them to get fired, they twist their words into nonsense that doesn’t even fit the context, derail the threads, some have even gone as far as threatening them with physical harm. It’s not worth the effort.

If you take a look at the classic and BC section of the forum you’ll notice the complete opposite though. Blizzard engages with those players but you don’t see a riot every time they post either. The retail section of the forum seems to act much more childish than the classic/bc section and that’s why, imo, that they get communication and we don’t.

Thanks, I’ll try what I can and I don’t think I’ll stop anytime soon.

Like I said, anybody over the age of 10 knows better, or maybe you are deliberately trolling. They are faced with hundreds of thousands of people claiming to have great ideas to same the game. How are they to know IN ADVANCE who is worthing listen to. How do they pick out the 3 people out of 300000 that are worth listening to. “They should just try” What do you mean by that? How exactly do they “just try”? Do they waste their time by carefully listening to all 300000 people and hope the first 3 people they list to are the 3 out of 300000 that actualy have good ideas?

And then the circle of life begins again when people ask you “Hey why are you angry? Why can’t you post constructive feedback detailing your thoughts in a well reasoned post instead of screaming that the design is bad”.

While I am sure millions of gamers would love to sit down with a beverage and chat with a Dev over game aspects, it is not really something practical to do.

To make suggestions in WoW you have two ways:

  • Post on the forums constructively to discuss it with other players. CMs collect that feedback for the weekly reports, and/or for targeted feedback if they are looking for something specific.
  • Use the Suggestion tool in-game.

You won’t get to have a direct chat with them unless you work there, happen to know them personally, or are interviewing them for a press release/media engagement.

Now, there are exceptions. Blizzcon is pretty awesome and I have gotten the chance to chat with lots of Devs, Producers, System designers, artists, etc. I got to talk to Mike Morheim for about 15 mins as well in 2016. If you are not at some of the non public functions though that is not likely to happen. (Side note - Ion was not a jerk when I talked to him. He was rather nice, but I was not “grilling” him on anything.)

That just gets you suspended for spamming and annoys the heck out of the people you want to talk to.

Oh no they listen to feedback, but it’s not our feedback, we don’t matter. They only listen to the top top top players in the game and think only their feedback is important because they are the best at the game. I’d honestly try harder if they actually listened to us and didn’t just let those who have more time game the system.

Like how we asked for changed to PVP matchmaking as there was too many carries, so they announced a PVP matchmaking change, but than it was only a change for literally the top ranked person or people who were ranked so high that there was no one left to match with and they could not gain any rank. And we’re talking about the top 0.0001%, like the top 50 players only.

Did you wander here from the FF14 or Ashes of Creation forum by mistake?

You can talk to the devs if you

  1. Get a college degree related to software development
  2. Learn about game development
  3. Apply for a development job at Blizzard
  4. Get hired for the development job
