I want Gilneas back

somebody, somewhere, is triggered.

Sure. But please add portals.

Gilneas would’ve been a cool get back when it seemed like we were getting a blue EK and a red Kalimdor. But since that’s not happening, I doubt we’ll never see Gilneas again.

I didn’t really mean it that way. What I meant was: major races deserve a capital. And settling them should really be one of the primary goals of both factions. Yes, we all need to rush off and save the Shadowlands. But the overriding concern of the people of Azeroth should be… Azeroth.

One thing that gives me some hope is that people had tossed out the idea that time might pass differently in the SLs than on Azeroth, and we might emerge 20-30 years in the future, with lots of changes to the old world; sort of another soft reset, like with Cata. My fingers are crossed.

I agree. Stormwind has too much Refugees and I think Races deserves a City of their own instead of being in Human Lands like the Night Elves and Worgen could go to Gilneas and have a home there.

I second this Gilneas had everything I wanted for a city of werewolves and it was ruined.

We could emerge in the future and create one mega city. A hub for all with race specific areas, profession districts, expansive portal area, public arena, and a phased area inside designed for your player house. Holy crap my brain just blew a fuse lol

Agreed, we need the catastrophic, world ending events to subside long enough to reclaim and rebuild a few things.

Even from just a narrative sense, I’m tired of just roving from one THE END IS NIGH! disaster to another. Couldn’t Azeroth be attacked by… I dunno… Aliens or something? That’s a stupid idea, of course, but just something that’s a little more low-key for a change. Or… how about we spend an expansion just exterminating the undead? No more Lich King, so it’s time for the Scourge to go, too.

Just spitballing… but, overall, WoW could really use another Pandaria-like expansion where it feels like the world isn’t going to explode even if we fail.

To be fair MoP had 3 world ending events. The bell, Ra-den and Garrosh confusmed by the sha.

I guess it was more feel than anything. But I never really thought the world felt on the edge in MoP like it did with GIANT SWORD HAS DAMAGED AZEROTH or LEGION INVASION IMMINENT or HAHA I RIPPED A HOLE IN THE SKY HERE COME GHOSTS.

I agree. Additionally I think it would be a great thing if they removed the Blight from Lordaeron and turn it into a functioning Human (or Forsaken) City again, albeit this time above ground and giving players the Lordaeron themed zone they’ve wanted since Warcraft III.

All in all the whole Blight concept has been a lazy “IWIN” button for the Horde (I say Horde, but it’s really always been about Sylvanas and the Forsaken’s plot armor; which is why people rejected her as a character) for too long and the Alliance realistically should have a counter to it at this point, since they were the ones who accidentally perfected it in Wrath while studying it.

Ultimately when you give WMD to one side, the other needs a counter if factions are to remain equal in footing. So honestly yeah, I don’t mind if Lordaeron goes human or if Calia manages to cleanse it somehow. Same token the Night Elves should get a new City of some manner.

Teledrassil was from it’s inception something that shouldn’t of been created, and was because the Night Elves were addicted to immortality. Now that it’s gone, it’d be cool to see Astranaar be rebuilt and become the new Night Elven Capital.

Alternatively if they want to keep the quotient of Silvermoon is the Horde’s only E.K. bastion, and Exodar the Alliance’s on Kalimdor, we could do a reversal of fortunes here. Gilneas gets reclaimed? Sure. But why stop there?

Forsaken settle in Darkshore, with the burnt ruin of Teledrassil a constant reminder of what they did. Calia and Voss set up a new Forsaken Capital there. Worgen and Alliance claim Lordaeron as an outpost, and the Night Elves claim the Whispering Forest as one of their new holdings along with much of Silverpine.

Either way we need to see the zones continue to evolve.

Gilneas represents an awful lot of work from the art team that is being wasted on nothing at this point. It definitely needs to be a functional city again for the Worgen. (Maybe this would get them to fix the zone lag while they’re at it.)

As Lacryma notes, it would also be good to bring Lordaeron back into operation somehow, as either Human or Forsaken-centric.

I’m also for restructuring Suramar to account for being a proper Nightborne capital.

Also fix Gnomeregan once and for all.

And then, in an xpac or two, develop a new world tree for the Night Elves.

The point here is that Warcraft has a bad habit of blowing stuff up and then never fixing it. People talk about it being extra work for the devs to do something with those areas, but I see it as using those areas as a head start and actually lessening the amount of work needed in the long run.

When did you ever have it in the first place? Though lore wise not only is the Alliance reclaiming it, they have also taken over a bunch of Silver Pine Forest.

My Worgen char would also love to have Gilneas back as a capital city. It’s design is really beautiful and I feel it’s a shame not to be able to visit it more often.

Given that the Alliance won stromgarde it’s just impossible to not reclaim at this point. The horde just doesn’t have any footholds nearby to support a campaign there that they wouldn’t even want given Sylvanas is out.

Yeah, I just can’t see them doing another tree. I think a city in the trees - a sort of WoW version of Caras Galadhon (Galadriel’s city) - would be spot-on, especially since WoW doesn’t have anything like that really. But no more unblessed World Trees.

I would love this. A city taking up an entire zone with big alleys for professions, portals scattered around the main pillar, a quarter dedicated to guild housing, and at the centre of it all, atop the main pillar, is the arena. You get teleported up, and there aren’t seats. You levitate! Fights to the death atop that place. You get a transmog or mount for getting the most kills in one day, or week, or whatever.

I really want to write sci fi, don’t I

It’s still there, all nice and blighted.

I disagree. There’s no evidence that the Forsaken ever did much more than sniff around the NW corner of the zone.

Plus, Slyvanas =/= Arthas, much as she might wish it. There’s no established canon that says that her “blight” is incurable.
