I want a holy dps specialization

I want a holy dps specialization. Sort of like a magical, ranged paladin. It’s been over 20 years and I’m tired of shadow. I know there isn’t one, and I’m not holding my breath, but… -.-

“Inquisitor” would be a great name for such a spec. It’d be nice to see the Light used as a pure offensive spec. I feel like Blizzard missed a chance to add a fun spec to the game since we’re going up against the void. I suppose they put all their creative eggs in the new DH basket.

Nah, it should be called “Pope”. Your main abilities are excommunicate for single target and interdict for aoe.

I’ve wanted a Holy DPS caster for what feels like forever.

We have the precedent - Scarlet Monastery has had holy casters, we’ve seen the lightforged in Legion channel holy energy into space lasers - we’ve seen holy magic be used with destructive intent.

We have a handful of spells already - Holy Nova, Smite, Holy Fire. Could always add some more to round out a full DPS rotational kit.

With Midnight being this big void vs light thing and DHs getting a new way to utilize void powers, I think now would be a better time than ever to give Priests a new way to utilize their holy powers too for the theme of the expansion.

I think I kind of want to see them go this route - new specs instead of new classes. There’s a lot of themes that players could explore that fall more in-line with existing classes rather than necessitating a whole new class itself. It’s impossible for me to overstate how much I want this spec to happen. It would be my favorite thing, and it’s the spec identity I love in other fantasy games that I miss most in WoW.

I love playing the video game “V Rising” When my vampire use to fight the priest in that game, I always thought to myself “How cool would it be to play a ranged DPS HOLY Priest spec in World of Warcraft?”

I would absolutely play this class / spec combo if/when it comes to the game…

I currently Play Disc, and it’s fun, but I would love to just focus on DPS more, vs healing with my priest. Personally, I’m not a big fan of Shadow Priest… But that’s just me…

Honestly it would be a well overdue excuse for them to just rework the entire holy side of the Priest class identity. It has some of the oldest spell effects and animations in the game. Priest is also in the awkward position of being the only class with multiple healing specs in a game currently hell bent on giving healing specs the lash in everything outside of instanced group content, so that leaves you with…Shadow. A spec with an aesthetic and class fantasy that is wildly antithetical to anyone who plays Priest for the holy vibes, and is a fiddly ramping DoT class to boot. Alas, at this juncture I’d expect Druids to get a fifth spec before Priests got any significant developer attention. It’ll probably remain a “nice to have” fantasy.

I would agree that the spell effects for holy needs to be updated, spells like guardian angel and apoth look terrible and have a lot of sharp edges. For the most part holy’s spell simply don’t have a lot of room for good visuals because they are direct heals, but they did add a lot of flower effects to druid for casting things like renew, we should probably get an update to the on player cast animation.

Agreed, especially for those wanting to be more more accurate with things like lightforged Draenei or blood elves

Nope. Terrible name.

This is like naming a Druid spec “Archdruid” or calling a Warrior spec “warchief” or calling a death knight spec “Lich King”

Inquisitor makes more sense, and would still fit for having abilities called excommunicate

Uh… I was joking… Can’t believe no one got my interdict for aoe joke. Some of you need to read up on your Tudor history.

These forums are full of braindead idiots, forgive me if I thought you were serious
