On a side note—Now that we have a fair amount of R12+, I have noticed there has been way fewer posts regarding BGs/PvP/Ranking as of late…
Was all of the whining and complaining that was occurring during the past couple months just rankers being extremely vocal about them not being able to attain their rank through mindless AFKing in AV?
While I do not support or in any way agree with what you did, its far less troublesome than what I see everyday. For instance, today, I watched a mounted player move around the entire match but never dismount and help. He was a warrior and was very hogh on HKs with no killing blows. I reported him and called him out in BG chat. He never replied but at some point start spewing script in /say. I dont recall what it was but it was something like SET “bleh blah blah”. I think his bot malfunctioned at some point. In any case, you got a mere 8 days for sitting the cave. This guy should get perma banned imho.
That’s because rankers are reaching their goals and quitting the grind. There isn’t an unlimited supply of players who can play all day every day for months. On my server the required amount of honor to keep and gain ranks has been declining weekly.
I did. Also took a screenshot. I found the screenshot. It reads SET overrideArchive “0” I looked this up and it has something to do with changing something on a Chinese client when using American servers.
Please dont talk conjecture.

Blizzard has plenty of resources to properly moderate the game.
Classic is making them TWICE AS MUCH sub money as retail was earning earlier in the year.
That may be true, but you can’t know if it is true. What are the real numbers? How much does “proper moderation” cost, for this specific game? Who decides what is “proper”?
How much “resources” does Blizzard have? Certainly they are not infinite. Most important, there is one set of “resources” but hundreds of possible things to use it for. Whatever you spend on one thing, you cannot spend on something else. That other thing won’t happen.
So it is false to imply that Blizzard can (or should) spend all its available resources for this one purpose.
Moderation is an operating expense that you minimize in order to maximize profitability – the correct amount of moderation is a calculation of dollars lost from failing to moderate vs. dollars spent moderating. You stop spending money on moderation when an extra dollar of moderation cost no longer provides a return of more than a dollar in retained profit. (Profit, not sales – so if they have a flow through of 10% then they need to save $10 in sales per marginal dollar of moderation expense.) Even then, most companies won’t min-max this quite so much, they will err on the side of under spending because their personal bonus or whatever benefits.
On my server, we have a discord and have pre-arranged caps for bracket 11+. If some low rank is pushing into bracket 11+ someone will talk to them. Not everyone who is bracket 12+ is a bot you know. They just play a lot.
One thing that is cool about classic is that there are community driven options to work these issues out.
We can’t get rid of our botters and other cheaters, but we can set caps in a way they can’t achieve the highest ranks and we can exclude them from the best pre mades on the server.
Botting is a huge blow to the integrity of the ranking system, but make sure you as a ranking community do all you can to support the real players.
