I have been playing healer for the last week and tonight was my last night.
The damage is outrageous and games are just full of melee.
I normally heal and love it but this zug s$&t is out of control.

Healing is far more stressful than DPS in solo shuffle. By a wide margin, I’ve been doing it for the quick queues, but I don’t feel it’s worth it.
One single missed CD is enough to cause a loss. Sometimes it’s not even that, you just get some random insane dps burst for 150k+ that insta-kills a DPS.
Add to that the salty DPS that will message you to rage because they died and it’s not worth the effort.
As a healer that just caps vault with rss, I have learned to just afk the rounds with the salty dps on my team.
They want to act that way and I can’t respond because saying anything gets you banned then they can take the loss
They’re actually not, every rank 1 player who’s made a tier list puts devastation at nothing higher than B tier, preservation however is S tier.
I am with you on this one. I think there needs to be more emphasis on putting the healers “back” into the game rather than having them play the Unit Frame game. By leveraging Nameplates, visual cues as to who is taking damage and smart heals, there may be a road to redemption for healers in general.
I like the idea of a “healing heat map” to give you some visual cues and indicators but not a fan of ground based AoE heals. I would much rather them try to implement some sort of Smart Healing just like the Disc Priest spell Power Word: Radience with talent Ultimate Radience. It’s an instant cast aoe spell that doesn’t require targeting, has a good range and on a relatively short CDs. I think the whole idea of targeting someone to heal them is outdating mechanic and doesn’t work anymore especially in PvP.
Blizzard has an interesting problem to fix and I’m curious how they will go about it. There is just no incentive to heal besides getting in groups fast. Everything else just feels bad.
It is difficult to heal I would say since shadowlands. I don’t think it will always be like this but the game is currently hostile to anyone that is new to healing. It is actually very fun and rewarding though once you get the hang of it and have coordinated team play. Healing random people can be frustrating as they often don’t understand why you can’t heal them around the pillar they just chased someone or to use defensives when you get cc’d or to interrupt poly or any number of things.
My favorite is melee trash taking heals because you couldn’t find your 60 yards heal that goes through a pillar.
If I may, how many matches did you try? I suppose it might come naturally for some but I spent my first hundred or so mostly flustered and only somewhat cognizant of the rest of the match, often “mashing” rather than making deliberate decisions, but over time I started to “feel” the flow of the match. And this was after having played thousands of matches of dps.
I swear it’s almost always a warrior. (Sorry to the 5 good warr players)
“Yeah I jumped across the map into their start area and ate everyone’s openers, why couldn’t you heal me though? IT’S YOUR JOB”
