They are cashing out on TBC players right now.
Xaryu said he was going to Blizzard to test it so it must be ready to play.

the sooner it comes out, the sooner it will crash n burn just like SOD did
they will announce it at blizzcon and it’ll be live in a few weeks, just like sod was
See you there
TBC is running through the entire year so it’s unlikely to come that much sooner and kill it off; the sale is just a sale. It’s about as free money for them as it can get so it’s far more likely that bundle/boost purchases have dropped off so they’re doing it to encourage more sales for more free money.
There’s also some debate about if WoTLK Anni happens, and unless C+ launches with a heavy monetization model the chance of them butchering the playerbase that will feed them WoTLK boosts and bundles is pretty low.
Nobody said anything about killing off tbc.
Wrath would be irrelevant with how much they’ll make with Classic+
I can see all phases of Wrath Anniversary being released before Classic+. Doubt they’ll have overlap. More money if they stagger
There will not be a Wrath Anniversary.
They’ve already released Classic+; it was called TBC.
Oh yeah? So where do our characters go from here?
Probably a TBC era would be my guess. We’ll just rot in SWP like Era is rotting in Naxx.
Most people I talk with think it’s coming in early 2027 when TBC-A wraps up so when I see “C+ may be coming sooner” I think 4-6 months. A lot of people also think WoTLK-A won’t happen anymore, which I am indecisive about.
Their model with classic thus far has been implementation and monetization later so if they follow that then WoTLK Anni will crush C+ in the short term. None of the Classic modes have ever required a purchase to play so I’m not expecting C+ to require purchase either, but I do think it could be monetized out the gate since they’ve spent time on SoM and SoD of which neither had monetization to speak of. It really depends on how they are handling its launch.
I think Wrath Anniversary is the plan B if C+ isn’t in a playable state by the end of TBC Anniversary.
LOL ok bud.
Are you ignoring all the retail players who will play C+ who wont play Wrath?
The retail playerbase is pretty split about Classic content; a lot of the ones who use retail as their main form of WoW act like Classic is garbage. Unless C+ looks absolutely amazing I think a lot of retail players are either not going to play or be tourists at best. Moreover, if we assume C+ does not cost to access like all other classic modes have acted then even if retail players do engage with C+ it’s no additional money in Blizzard’s pocket until they engage in monetization.
That’s my point for why short term something like WoTLK-A would make more bank; they’ll sell tens of thousands of boosts/bundles like they did for TBC-A whereas C+ may launch without much or any monetization. But if C+ launches with a WoW token, transmog/mounts/pets shop, some sort of optional cosmetic bundle, etc then absolutely could bring in a lot. Maybe they’re going to find a way to put housing in C+ so they can sell Hearthsteel too, who knows. I’m confident C+ will get a heavy dose of monetization since it should be a long term game mode and will make more in the long term, what I’m not sure is when that monetization will come.
I feel like everyone assumes classic + will be based off vanilla and the 60 level cap. Has bliz actually said this though? Have they said anything about classic + at all?
I feel like classic plus could end up meaning wrath plus, which I wouldn’t really be mad about. This would make sense being that we’ll be at the end of tbc. Or perhaps we’re getting that cool sounding titan forge server China got instead of us for some reason. I think the level cap is 80 on that, so it could be a possibility.
I’m honestly hoping bliz just drops regular wrath, and makes tbc and wrath era servers. This way we will know they at least took their time with classic + and gave it an honest effort.
Wrath has zero chance to make more money than Classic+.
That’s a good laugh though.
Anniversary Wrath with a DK bundle will sell. Nobody really wants to deal with slogging a fresh DK through Outland again.
There was a really old survey put out about C+ way back in original Classic or maybe TBCC asking what people would or wouldn’t want to see in Classic. You can probably google to find it. The whole concept about Classic+ has always been about staying in Azeroth and not going down a path of multiple expansions with new zones, flying, etc. I’d take any bet on people thinking they’d start with WoTLK for the basis of Classic+.
I wouldn’t put it out of the question to eventually do something Classic-esque with TBC/WoTLK content, but I wouldn’t expect them to ship those expansions in a plus fashion. The game mode will probably try to put a lot more horizontal progression into the game or incorporate future content as new raiding content.
Really not my fault you don’t comprehend the nuance of what I’m saying since I’m effectively playing both sides of the coin here, and I already said that in the long run it’ll make more money regardless.
You’re just clueless.
That’s what’s funny.
