I think it's official

It looks amazing and I can’t wait for it. WoW’s future is looking bright. Don’t mind the whiners. You could straight up give them all of their money back that they invested into the game and they would still find a way to complain about it. It’s just in their blood nowadays.

Many people love the game and the direction. We are just too busy playing the actual game then browsing/posting on the forums.

Then they should do the logical thing and vastly expand the new mount system (it’s very shallow ATM) and fix the bugs and expand the transmog system as well. They can start by doubling the 20 set saved slots.

I agree, mounts, tranmogs etc. are the most important core parts of the game now. The new expac content is transient and irrelevant.

They add a new system, there is no apparent problem, and people literally make posts/threads with their own theories/conspiracies and then criticize Bliz over things they made up in their theory.

My biggest confusion is about the double standard of it all.

the Sky Golem, the traveler’s tundra mammoth, the grand expedition yak, the brutosaur, all the underwater mounts whose names I don’t know… They’re all mounts with unique functionality and perks that make them better and more popular than other mounts and they get to keep all that.

But the water strider has to be changed.

Tanks and people with shields get to keep their daze protection, effectively allowing them to “double dip” with mount equipment…

But the water strider cannot be allowed to keep what it already had.

It seems spiteful towards the water strider in particular and I myself would call myself crazy for saying so if I didn’t also recall how they tried to do this to the poor bug an expansion ago as well.

I mean, the whole idea of mount equipment sounds great! when I first heard about it, I was thinking “Oh what could they add? An extra bag slot (like a saddlebag)? Maybe a stealth-generator for mount sneakiness? Or maybe, like, hats? Just a hat… for my mount?” And then i found out what it really was and I was… well, dissapointed but not surprised.

I really wish it would stop feeling like the devs design this game by playing “corrupt a wish”.

Also, just an aside, I can see it now: next expansion the reward for pathfinder part one will be the ability to use mount equipment in the new expansion (but you have to buy the new versions for the new expansion… y’know, so the market stays relevant).

ahhh another person without a strider who will actually benefit from the new system, thinks it’s great. huge shocker.

in the long run, yes. it is.
it’ll eventually just become more content which people don’t want to have to level through.

What is with people making these analogies that in no way relate to the system at hand? This is not what is going on. If you have a water strider you get the item for FREE. Your water strider 100% functions exactly the same as before but now all your other mounts will function like it as well.

Your analogy would be that the movie pass now works at hundreds of other theaters, but you have to wear a free badge they gave you. NOTHING is being take away from it if you decide you want waterwalking. You and others complaining want to keep the status quo. You want to GAIN something else and still have the water strider for water walking. That is exactly why it is loosing water walking because otherwise we would stay in the exact same position as we have now.

That is precisely what it is. More grind, all fluff and no substance.

A single function, per character, at a gold price for every change.

On Live you can apply bardings or stirrups to the Strider and Golem and get dual effects or Potions and those consumables to regular mounts.

I don’t get how you can consider a net loss over current functionality an improvement.

1 item, that is limited to 1 character. All your alts will need to receive the “reduced price” items from your Anglers rep character to apply water walking to their mounts. All your characters will also need to purchase the other items via the Auction House to change effects, in multiples if you ever plan to change effects.

The community isn’t one person, it’s a huge number of people who all like and dislike different things. By boiling things down to “the community”, you’re grossly oversimplifying the situation so you can pretend to have some sort of point.

Yes, they would.
What’s your point?
Flips hair

Notice I’m NOT calling you on a point with which you’ve hammered so many others i.e., claiming to speak for us all.

How about you tell the community what they are actually doing to appease the most complained about item:

Classes and their feeling of weakness.

Wait. That doesn’t cover the 8.2 patch.

See ya later in 9.0 when you open this thread

I’m pretty happy.
I’d be happier if my new worgen model came out right at 8.2, though. But I’ve waited this long, I can wait a bit longer.

The other problem with your post was already pointed out.

We are losing the ability to leap safely into water while mounted. Which, sure, is moderately trivial… but I guarantee there’s gonna be a lot of unhappy corpse runs because of it.

After this change, people that enable “Water Walking While Mounted Always” will need to remember to dismount or r-click the buff before splattering on the now very -hard- water below. Or they’ll have to remember to switch to the Sky Golem/Lumber Extractor, because apparently they’re the only ‘special mount’ that’s exempt.

Pretty much this. They’re giving a bunch of things we didn’t really ask for and barely touching any of the issues.

I’m pretty sure we’d rather they did more frequent balance tuning every week or two. That and introduced some actual content (you know because afk islands and warfronts are super stimulating).

I’m excited for a few things but honestly I’m not holding my breath. Mostly just excited for the story and zones which is about the only thing they’ve done really well this expansion.

Those “anti-daze/dismount” options are becoming mount equipment, of which only one can be active:

  • The Mount Equipment that prevents being dazed is created by blacksmiths.

Look it up. It’s been posted by numerous streamers that went to the announcement. That’s why all the backlash.

Plus as has been pointed out by numerous others, they’re giving a bunch of things we didn’t really ask for and barely touching any of the issues.

The only real change to mounts for me when 8.2 rolls out is that I will no longer have to hold down alt when I press my mount keybind because ALL of my mounts will have waterwalking.

Since we can basically all agree they need to give the bug the same treatment as the robot which is take the equipment slot away so it retains its water walking ability but can’t use anything else I think it is time we as a community band together.

As a community we have shown that if we make a big enough stink Blizzard does listen Hati is an example when he was first announced as going away hunters and non hunters banded together as one to #savehati even Wowhead had it on the front page so it was big news and the end was hunters did get the good boy back.

So now I ask the community let us put our differences aside and as one speak up for the bug we can call it #sos, save our striders.

I bet if it works the same as it did for Hati then they will listen and not take away its water ability and treat it as same as the robot.

I can’t wait for The Dreadwake to actually be able to sail the seas thanks to the new mount equipment!

8.2 IS adding flying way too late! So yeah, we will complain. We should have had flying 6 to 9 months ago.

The Devs act like a bunch of 5 year olds with purposely preventing us from flying because their feelings had gotten hurt.

It’s got nothing to do with being grumpy, it has to do with Dev’s that don’t listen and continue to force bad gameplay down our throats.
