I think I wasted my time leveling in classic ERA... (SHORT STORY)

So wait, you chose a free transfer destination realm and were surprised by the cancerous community?
There are two east coast pvp clusters btw.

Ill add to this that AB has actually been popping within about 10 minutes during day hours lately because of all the new whitemane players trying to get HWL. Ive been having a pretty good time with it. People are actually making calls and putting in effort even if they arent geared to the teeth. Edit: for clarity im referring to the 60s bracket. No one leveling is going to the cities to queue only to be sent back to the city and have to fly across the continent to keep questing while in queue.

Good reason to reinstate clones. I do feel bad for the people who relevel and realize theyve wasted their time.

Whitemane does a lot of promotion here, but the secret is Mankrik Alliance. Yes, there is boosting on both but it’s a lot less and there’s a lot more dungeon running.

Oh yea, and it has the highest population in NA.

yeah, but you had me at PvE server. lol

So far my best time with “Classic” was Phase 1 after it launched and the rogues I leveled after TBC launched with a tiny albeit fun loving community.

After that its been a mixed bag with some really disappointing realizations. I will state that there still some very cool people out there but they kind of get lost in the muck of GDKPs and boosting.

I feel ya OP. The potential was/is there but its not being realized and its unfortunate. However, Mankrik alliance are providing east cost PvE players with a very solid vanilla like experience overall if you dont mind swapping factions.

is there a horde community on the mankirk server? maybe i can transfer my rogue there. Maybe i’ll log in and check numbers by doing a bunch of different /who commands… and also check the lookingforgroup chat as well and observe how popular it is (kinda attached to this rogue lol)

Not a very big community no, Makrik is predominately alliance. Last I heard was 3:1, but I don’t know where to chgeck for sure. My level journey on my horde was lonely and i stopped

Setbacks happen from time to time. This is a normal part of most everything.

Same. When I started on classic again I rolled up horde on Mankrik. Quickly realized how small their population is and started /who’ing different factions and servers. I highly recommend people do this for themselves because before that I heard people insist Mankrik Horde was doing great.

I would never roll on a PvE server.

I’m not, is that what mankirk is? I’m most likely taking a break once my sub runs out anyway, i’ll be back for fresh/som2

Logging on a level 1 and chatting with the locals is the best way to get a feel for your faction’s community/culture.

Now tell us how you really feel.

Mankrik was the pve horde server until TBC started.

Just wanted to add I did the same thing trying out classic again.

Difference being I started in BC. You taught me Karazhan is BC, I had no idea! So it’s just an empty tower in vanilla?

I was going to do like you in AV except at level 30 in Atari and Warsong Gulch. Que never pops, ever.

I’m hoping their are max level BGs but it’s crazy there are so many people on my server cluster but zero BGs.

I didn’t expect 5 minute que times but I also didn’t expect not being able to BG period. Sucks.

Literally the most cancerous thing in WoW, if Blizz was to kill anything it would be this.

Hell if they had to delete every single BoE item in game that’s not soul bound, all the gold, and all the consumables and then crack down HARD on botting…

I would happily give up my treasure trove of items for a better experience.

Sorry to hear your feedback, having people to group with was definitely important for me as well when I started playing classic era back at the end of December/early January after being burnt out from leveling up so many alts in wrath and doing heroics each day. I wanted to go back to classic to do all the raids I missed (only did MC and Ony previously in SoM # 1).

I wanted to play horde but didn’t want to play on the pvp cluster so I ended up playing alliance on the PVE east cluster since it was probably 90% alliance and 10% horde so much more guilds, auction house activity, people to play with.

Thankfully the east cluster is great for grouping up and such. Yes you might still have trouble finding people at certain times of the day but it’s easier for certain level ranges and ofc during main server times and weekends you can find people looking to group up across all level ranges. And since January the playerbase population has been growing on the east pve cluster, like the undead in the Duskwood GY couldn’t respawn quick enough when I was leveling a new alt through there a week ago! I’ve even seen more horde players on the pve cluster too.

Yes, sadly the pve cluster has also seen boosters appearing and growing in the last few months when it was rare to none before when I started (5 mara runs for 100g)…sorry to hear about your troubles on the west cluster, maybe try the mankrik pve cluster if you don’t mind being alliance? The horde side has been growing though so maybe check it out but you shouldn’t have grping issues on the alliance side.

Once they do a fresh classic or SoM # 2, I do plan on going back to horde and hope there’s a good amount of people returning to group with and raid also

not sure they can really do anything about gdkp’s but with the boosting situation they did fix that for SoM servers. Why they didn’t implement that feature into ERA servers is beyond me. This gets me thinking they just don’t even care about these servers and have most likely forgotten about em / don’t want to spend time or resources on them either.

Considering that they’re talking about “Changes” in SoM2 I am kinda glad we’re forgotten because it means they are less likely to screw us over with their badly designed “Changes”
