You see a “notification” and you click it, but you haven’t been on the forums a long time so the post you click is very old, you don’t realize and accidentally reply.
I think the “new” notifications shouldn’t pop up for old posts, even if you hadn’t read them.
I think you can just ignore notifications, they’re mostly hearts or whatever and sometimes replies from people who are very angry about your post you made 13 days ago
In my experience it is because you google a question and it pulls up an old post related to it. Then you respond or flesh out the question w/o realizing it was necroed.
Necros are made by people who Google something, get a link to a forum thread, don’t read the date and post.
Or by trolls.
Most necros are not made by people who have posted in the thread before.
I sometimes accidentally post on already necro’d threads. lol
