I think Dev Evoker needs a total redesign

So one super common criticism of devoker is their crazy high mobility. But the issue is, they kind of need it. Im definitely not the best evoker player by a long shot but the spec without hover up is practically unplayable. Ive heard many far better evokers than me express similar sentiments.

But isn’t that kind of a problem? Like doesn’t the fact that devoker basically requires having a permanent, undispellable freedom in order to be playable kind of suggest that it’s badly designed? A well designed spec shouldn’t need that to not get completely griefed.

I feel like I could make an argument for every spec in the game on how they’re badly designed but ultimately there’s no way around it if we want classes/specs to be diverse and not just doing the same thing with different names (even though we get a lot of that already). Evokers have their unique playstyle and for some specs it’s aids to fight against and for others they are much easier to deal with just like almost every other spec.

It became a bigger problem when deep breath started to reset your charges. Before it used to matter more how you used hover, but even then sometimes you could get away with wasting a charge.

Yes. Fatnose actually had a solid writeup about this the other day.

Idr the thread, but if evoker is SO reliant on being untouchable by melee to be viable, then that’s pretty indicative of some bad rock/paper/scissors design that can’t simply be ameliorated through numeric tuning alone.

Whoa are we best friends now?

But yeah evoker is made of paper even with double wall somehow. And their hero tree design gets completely nullified by pet classes (and there’s a lot of random pets).

Which is weird because initially evoker soft countered hunter lobbies / beat dks and cleaves / but were weak to locks/mages. But now Dk and hunter pets eat your damage. Eles counter you even harder. Sps/demo lock counter you even harder. What class doesn’t have pets at this point?

Just terrible design.

congrats you basically described how every class has been balanced since demon hunters were released, unfortuntately a lot of people believe mobility and APM mean skill when all it does is introduce unavoidable frustration

Its ok granpa classic is there for you to white swing someone to death. You can rest now

the best WoW PvP is obviously right in the middle, but you’re not actually looking for solutions

your slow reaction times would stand no chance against me in SSBM

Every day they don’t give warrior ancestral spirits because we yelled I am surprised. The wow community will not rest until warrior is just a barbarian from diablo

good, warrior already have some ridiculous abilities that don’t match the class fantasy

Idk? What’s your favorite dinosaur??

And I always appreciate and recognize good takes, regardless of where they come from.

Think this sums it up.

Personally I don’t enjoy how dev interacts with the game, but from a uniqueness standpoint it’s something I wouldn’t change. I think their mastery is the only pure problem from a PVP perspective, because of how simplified the rotation is and how dragonrage/essence works.

I fail to see how having holes in your rotation (the opposite of a gcd capped pace) and having white swings be strong improves pvp in any sense.

only TBC is like that, I said right in the middle
