Just make your own guild and build a community around it. It will only you 5-10 years
There is no addon.
Combat logging basically creates a notepad of whatever you’re logging.
All WCL does is take the compiled data and makes it much more readable by putting it into the WCL format we are all used to.
You don’t use any addon to upload a log.
The log itself is all done in game with the built in system blizzard put in.
Sorry to hear that. Sucks for you.
no that is actually a very bad idea.
while you may not like damage meters and warcraft logs (for whatever reason), they are very helpful tools to players that want to improve their performance.
you see that you parse very low even though you have good gear, so you can go to warcraft logs and look at the top parsing player of your class. then you can go to their casts, view it on a timeline and literally see what buttons they press and when, then compare that to your own and see where you went wrong.
imho the only players who don’t like damage meters and warcraft logs are the players who do not perform well and have no interest in improving their performance - if that is the case, then sure you can delete your damage meter and ignore warcraft logs; not a big deal.
found the grey/green parser
yes, exactly what i thought as well:
I parsed 95-99 across the board in BFD and I think these tools are bad for the game, too. Objectivity is hard.
that seems like a very odd take - how are these tools bad for the game when they literally serve no purpose other than assisting players in improving their performance?
How does it not benefit the game? It lets me know who is bad and who I should kick from my group because they are dragging the team down.
Yes, I know how it works. My post was correct.
I was pointing out that in-game DPS meter addons access the same data that the /combatlog command is saving a copy of for you to upload later.
You also made a comment that if they disabled the command they would then just make an addon, so I was also pointing out that if they disabled the combat logging system entirely, you wouldn’t be able to make an addon because DPS meter addons are already using the same system/data. They’re just accessing the combat log live in-game where the command is saving a copy of the log to a file.
It’s the same system and the same data. Addons can access the combat log data in-game via the addon API. The /combatlog command is just saving a copy of the same data. Blizzard could easily disable the entire system so you couldn’t access the data in any way. The only solution at that point would be memory reading third party programs that would break the ToS.
Hi,
BM hunter here. Killing bosses, having fun. Looking at damage meters and logs. Still having fun
Sounds like you need to join a different group or guild or something
And see here’s the narrow focus I mentioned, very one note. all that time spent gaming and you’re just a color on a chart.
Issue is stuff like dps meters have always been inaccurate.
Logs themselves seem to be more accurate at the very least.
This is exactly the point. The content is an absolutely joke, yet you’re gonna kick someone for doing blue parses like you’re mythic raiding. That’s toxic AF.
Instead of harboring a spirit of inclusiveness, Blizzard has allowed these tools that divide people to flourish. That’s literally the point.
More like I want my raids to be successful so I pick players who can make that happen.
I value my time and don’t want to waste 9 other people’s times by putting together a raid that is going to fail.
I’d hate to break it to you and others but higher parsing players are still fun to play with.
You can’t control other people. Just don’t associate with them and play with like-minded people. Some people like to speed run, some like to parse, some want to run loot council, some want to roll on items, some people don’t want to use discord, and some people just want to come in and kill the boss.
Wow it’s almost like you can play the game however you want. Amazing
There’s nothing “toxic” about someone playing the game differently than you, other than your mindset. If someone wants to play with someone else that is on equal footing as they are, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. I wouldn’t take it personally if Kobe didn’t want to shoot hoops with me
PS - no one is bringing you in and then being like “OH BLUE PARSER BYE.” mid raid or something
counterpoint: got a raiding spot in a guild as a rogue i suspect because i did good damage for my class and was near the top of the damage meter in their pug. without any objective metrics to track damage i might till be forced into pugging. because if you can’t use those metrics it would always be safer to invite a higher on average dps class than mine.
no one kicks anyone from a group unless the group is wiping.
if the group is wiping, what would the best path to take?
- have no damage meters and just say, oh well, the group can’t down the boss, let’s all disband.
OR (and just an fyi, this is the correct answer)
- Look at the damage meter, see who is not pulling their weight, then politely inform that person you need to remove them so the group can succeed, and the group goes on to finish the raid successfully.
Yeah that’s fine for me. I’m gonna pull 95+% parses no matter what I play. But being unable to recognize that these tools do nothing to improve the gameplay experience of the average person is naïve. It just creates hostility for people trying to PuG.
Then do your own research and make your own group filled with like minded noobs. Nothing wrong with that but people who complain about this seem to want handouts and an instant invite to the first group they apply for
… or … join … a …. Guild
I see groups all the time advertise “LFM were just gonna go in and see what we can do”
These groups do exist
