I stand with Blizzard re: conduits

I’m mostly sticking around due to friends. That and one of them gave me like a 6 month sub for xmas as a gift. We’re a small guild. So I’ll stick it out for awhile.

That mentality is the reason why this is a healthy change. One I hope they stick with. You shouldn’t be playing the game with the expectation that you will be 100% optimal in all scenarios at all times. On the player side, it leads to frustration when the balance is not (and can never be) perfect, like it or not, you’re going to spend patch cycles as the class that is “worse”.

From the developer side, it has to be a huge pain in the rear to constantly be expected to balance to perfection, when realistically, you could be making content that can be cleared by every spec, and just get the balance relatively close. As long as the disparity isn’t glaring, it ISN’T a huge deal, it’s really not. It becomes a deal when it’s so easy to change, that people EXPECT you to change. Has your guild ever forced you to reroll a new class when you were in a bad cycle for your class? Probably not. Because that’s an unreasonable ask for most guilds, just like asking people to change covenants will be a bit of an ask, especially if the difference between them isn’t enormous.

Blizzard releases a clearly overtuned covenant
*58% of players pick that covenant

This is literally how classes work. It’s the cycle of life. I don’t know why people are going insane over this stuff. This literally happens with classes. When Demon Hunters finally get the sledge hammer you’ll see the people who actually like Demon Hunter stick with it, and the people who were there because it was FOTM leave. That’s it. This is literally nothing new. People are acting like the sky is falling and we’ve literally had this for 16+ years. This is the way World of Warcraft works.

Really? I picked night fae for my dk and i got it right? kewl.

here’s one area we’d have no argument on. Spriests were made terrible by void form and I want the WoD spriest back desperately.

Do you think swapping to Destruction or Demonology makes that Affliction Warlock “100% optimal” in keys?

It makes them adequate because Affliction is pitiful in keys. It’s an unenjoyable playstyle and it has extremely poor results. If you think Destro or Demo are 100% optimal for keys you are lost.

Classes…

Borrowed power…

There’s a difference there, mate.

People want to be the best version of their class.

They won’t. That’s what I’m saying, if they don’t want to play based on meta they can do that either way. Trying to deny choice to people who do actually want to pick their most effective options for no reason is spiteful and petty. People who want to play on-meta will absolutely make choices that are narratively worse for them to ensure they get the most effective gameplay options.

Yeah and imagine if they’d made it so you could only pick one artefact. Do you think people would have loved that? One choice that forever decides how they play?

Yea when the vamps had a blink and cheat death everyone pointed out “I’m joining that one” Everyone said how overpowered those 2 abilities are.

that expectation is going to increase when players are restricted from swapping to better performing specs

But people told me feedback doesn’t work what on earth?!

When blizzard gets complacent feedback doesn’t work. Atm they are sweating.

Min/maxing aside, you can’t even enjoy all the content on the character you enjoy playing the most, aka your main. It’s unbelievably stupid. It’s never once happened in the history of the game and it sure as hell shouldn’t be happening now.

And there will be people who will look at me with a frown and go “oh, you’re going fotm!”

Nope, I’m choosing Venthyr for my DK because it’s a nice fit. Sure, Necrolord may fit DKs but … its too obvious of a choice. So Venthyr is a good second choice, thematically.

I KNOW the Venthyr abilities are gonna get Nerfed. So long as they’re still useful … I’ll be more than happy.

its not that simple imo…Like, my squishy classes are all going necrolord for the extra shield…my paladin is going venthyr because lol wheelchair…my demon hunter is going kyrian because well at least one char has to see i can see their story…but mostly its a mix of an interesting active general ability and an active class ability, and its funny because it was pretty obvious to me which char would go where from the get go. I cant imagine going anything but necrolord for my mage because my number 1 prob with him is survivability.

I’m so glad we have someone like Sentenza who hasn’t timed a single 15 key or killed a single mythic boss is out here dictating what Blizzard wants.

Look, Sentenza… I know Ddzz offered it earlier but I can assure you we are cheaper than him to buy a mythic nzoth+mount our region is saturated. I’ll even throw in a +15 carry(Leather stacked bonus too!). You don’t want to miss the mount right?

1% is very small and Nzoth won’t be soloable for a while!

If you’re talking about the covenant storylines, you can technically still “experience them”, just means swapping, and whatever loss that entails. They’ve not really even defined yet (that I’m aware of), what the penalty will be for swapping, just alluded there will be one.

Sorry, DKs have first dibs on wheelchairs. Pallies are speedy compared to DKs.

  • Makes entire thread centred around them squealing like a stuck pig about how awful people are for making decisions around gameplay considerations

  • Makes decisions based around gameplay considerations

Well that’s blatent hypocrisy.

Yet you are still prohibited from swapping back without some massive, who knows how long, grind. That’s a gate from content, period.
