Star Wars: Galaxies had that, and it was the worst part of their housing system.
You couldn’t build a house w/in 1000 meters of any city, so at 1001 meters there was a huge random mess of houses scattered all over the place.
EverQuest 2 had an interesting system. In the major cities, there were apartment portals, your character could rent a room in the building then decorate it however you wanted.

The only way that sort of open-ended sandbox housing system works is if you don’t put anything else in the game and make each zone an empty plot of land for any person to settle down on.
And to be clear, there’s nothing wrong with that if that’s the type of game you want to play (I mean you’d just be playing Minecraft at that point), but like…even in Palia, which is Player Housing: The Game, players are restricted to plots. In games where you CAN set your player housing anywhere (I.E. Fallout 76), you are sharded and the world feels dead by comparison.
WoW’s approach is truly the most comprehensive player housing system I’ve seen in a game yet.

It’s not. I still like the concept personally.

Ahh how’d you “call” something that was revealed right at the start and everyone knew?
Also why do people get a charge out of this “I called it” thing? Do you win a prize or something. It goes right there with being first comment on a forum even if just to type “first!!!”.
lol crazy stuff
Yes because we could totally move things around and add decor to garrisons…
Yes plots of land for your house limits (which most MMO’s like FFXIV have btw). We have known about this since the first bit of information months ago.
Still like a billion times more customization options than garrisons.
Congrats on your question making the Deep Dive…not many get that to happen for them as a player…

I still miss Wildstar’s system, but WoW’s is shaping up to be mostly okay. Only thing I am irked about is the neighborhoods and not being able to use any house you want in the neighborhoods. I don’t really want to be living with the humans or the orcs, but I can slum it till a place I actually like opens up.

I like the Farm as player housing. If it good enough for a dragon, then it’s good enough for me.
Wow. You really don’t understand the difference between the two and it shows. Garrison‘s were a requirement that kept you locked in place that you had to level up in order to progress in the game to make money and to get your legendary items.
Housing is simply a decorative zone that will not have access to any vendors or professions inside the home and is simply just an aesthetic feature for role players. You must’ve come to the game after WOD because if you had to live two years in a Garrison, you would understand there is a vast difference between the two.

If you think that is like garrisons you are mentally cooked xD
You can micro manage placement and colors of everything. You have full customization freedom. Not preset placement. You are clueless. Go watch the preview again OP. Just embarrassing yourself.
So no you didnt call it because what you called isn’t what housing is at all. Its beyond better than garrison.

How? Can you please literally spell reasons out into words? I can’t see it and would like to

They are not Garrisons. With Garrisons I could have one per character. Here two per account. Looks like all my Alliance characters will be living in a Human themed zone
I think I will keep pretending my Nelf lives in that empty house of Darkshore.
Still good about Housing though and glad for people who wanted it.
As long as housing is not required I’m fine with it. I’m even fine with it if I’m only required to unlock the house itself then I can never return if I don’t want to. I never asked for player housing and to be honest I really want nothing to do with it.
Like I said I’m fine with it being optional content for those who really want it as long as it remains optional content. The moment it’s forced on me is when I have a problem with it. I really don’t care what blizzard adds to the game optional content wise as long as it’s 100% optional
There is no use arguing with them on this New Housing coming out…seems they still got their Garrison blinders on and can’t see the forest for the Trees…

Gotcha!
So I didn’t take stupid pills today? There aren’t a lot of comparisons there, right?
Your fine …they just either can’t see the difference or they just want to Troll others about the new housing…I’d just leave them to their own misery…

What did you think you’ll set a barrack infront of SW?
