I shouldn't HAVE to raid just to be competitive in PvP

People who do all the content deserve the best gear, it’s as shrimple as that. People who don’t can cry on the forums.

It’s not about being raid-centric.
It’s about making the entire game connected, and stop trying to appease everyone.

The problem with retail is that it’s not centered around anything. The world is a big hub for different theme park activities and you just stand in line to participate in the ones you like. That design is stupid. It would be better served to all communities if they just completely got rid of the world and broke the game up into actually different games.

But if that’s what people want, it already exists – and it’s Retail.

I want the focus in the game to be on the world.

I want people to be fighting in front of dungeons/raids. When I go to run a dungeon, I want my group to get completely derailed and go defend some guildies while they quest. I want a world to run around in, where it’s more important what is going on in the world than what happens in a raid.

I want people to want to raid, because it means they have to gather somewhere in the world, which means it’s going to be a hotspot for world PvP. Same thing for running dungeons. I don’t care one drop about raiding. But I’ll do it so I can get better gear so I can fight other players. Especially if it means there is a good chance there is gonna be some world pvp on the way.

If all I wanted to do was grind instanced PvE or PvP so I could get a bigger number, I wouldn’t bother playing an MMORPG at all. If I wanted something with a leader board – I’d go play a game that only has the gameplay loop I wanted. So… like League, or Counter Strike or any number of fighting games.

Hell I would be playing ArcheAge if it wasn’t pay to win. That game has an amazing PvP driven economy.

wsg rep items are bis for raiding right now for pretty much every class?

so if you want to be really competitive in PVE right now you will def have to do at least some pvp

Hmm, if only there was some indication that this was a classic version of the game…

the game is better for everybody if you have to do both. simple as.

Just play retail if you wanna competitively pvp. Since sod doesnt have competitive pvp in the first place. Seeing a rogue post though sounds like you went to gank someone and became the ganked

Here are my thoughts -

A) We could have used more PvP gear this phase. Right now there’s trinkets, weapons, resilience helmet, and cloak. Maybe a few other pieces, but trinket/weapons/cloak/helm are “the good stuff”… and that’s not a lot.

B) The term ‘raid or die’ comes from Classic. As someone who got rank 11 in the old vanilla PvP system, my experience was that if you didn’t raid you were in trouble in PvP unless you were one of the three HWL on your server. I came into SoD ready to raid as I expected raid or die and SoD matches my expectations on that front. It’s sort of your own fault if you thought it would be otherwise .

this is an old debate

will never get pvp gear only because then pve people cry that pvpers get better or as good gear as them from just pvp

You should be forced to experience the game as a whole (There is barely any content as is)

This MMO simply just isn’t for you. Play a game like LoL, Val, Dota, CS etc. Any game that is strictly PvP focused. PvP is just an aspect of WoW.

in Rune of Duty way…

PvP gear will be added. In AQ. Buckle up.

The PvP gear is good but not good enough to get me back into WSG. I’m just waiting for AB since it’s the first fun BG.

Suffered through enough WSG to get 4500 honor only to have someone kite that Zoram strand civilian to the raid and set me back to rank 1.

If I could just play BGs without raiding and without facing constant premades, I would love this game. But this game is just too sweaty for me. Raiding is too sweaty. It takes hours worth of prep just to make sure you have consumes not to mention getting pre-raid bis (for a freaking lvl 25 raid). I had a naive hope that SoD wouldn’t be a sweat fest. I was wrong. This will be my last time trying to make this sweaty game work for me. It’s unhealthy devoting this much time to a video game.

This is an issue that they have not figured out as a whole

Forced PVE to PVP in classic = dead game half way in

You’re playing a pve game with a pvp mini game.

Well let me be clear, I think if you want to be competitive in any aspect of the game you s SHOULD have to play all aspects of the game.

That’s called retail. Being a classic season, SOD should have a secondary route to some of the best gear in the game. That’s what classic has. Honor gear. And without having that, this is just a retailed spin-off. And that’s fine if that’s Blizzard’s prerogative, but it’s pretty bad business to only appeal to the people that already subscribe for retail. But whatever.

Well the only reason I Raid is for PvP gear. I believe the entirety of the game should be played though. I don’t think PvP and PvE should be separated and that is what killed PvP/PvE participation in Retail. There should be BiS items from Raids for PvP. It’s healthy for the game and creates more build diversity.

It’s better than the alternative which is having boring PvP gear with no flavor and no options of PvE gear like in Retail.

BiS PvP gear should come from EVERYWHERE! Quest, Dungeons, Raids, Rep, PvP Ranks, Crafted.

They should though. The Sergeant PvP Cloak is BiS. The honored WSG Neck, Ring are great blues. The PvP trinket is Stam so every Tank needs it and anyone really for that matter. It does go both ways.

The game is healthy when you are rewarded for playing ALL of it. That means professions, Questing, PvP, PvE.

Cool, then I’ll see you at rank 14 before you have any viable gear to raid with.

Oh wait, you don’t actually believe that.

Not sure what you are getting at or how this has anything to do with what I said.
