If you don’t enjoy the game then unsub. No one is forcing you to play if you aren’t having fun with it. You are allowed to take breaks from wow. I skipped the last 3 or 4 expansions and came back.
tbf that is the duration we’re waiting for 9.1 already
Or, you know, here’s a totally foreign thought, maybe…just maybe, I prefer the devs fix themselves, their ego, and maintain an acceptable content cadence in ONE GAME instead of trying to balance between two versions of the same game?
I know, super crazy to want something so foreign and left field like that.
The 10-14 month content drought usually has several benefits that 9.0 doesn’t -

A whole expansion worth of content. Usually 10+ M+ dungeons, sometimes more. Old raids for mog runs / mount runs (think Mythic Jaina farming in BFA). A 12+ boss raid. Etc.

A whole expansion worth of tuning/systems - usually this is the peak of an expansion’s game balance.

Finalized version of borrowed power that is actually fun.

Long-tail engagement systems meant to last for years.

Pre-expansion hype.
I mean the list could go on bud. 9.0 is solid for a “starter patch”, but starter patches are only supposed to last like 4 months tops. 9.0 is going to go down badly in history because it was a starter patch with non-starter-patch length.

I’ve already unsubbed. I unsubbed about 2 months into SL and just came back. I thought I’d just hang around in old content. It was fun for a day or two, then I remembered why wow is so bad now. Yea stupid me but that doesn’t excuse the poor state of the game.
Didn’t know patch 9.0 has been out for several years already.
There are people who are enjoying the game. If you personally are not, that’s a you thing. Stay unsubbed until you see things are added that you might enjoy. There are plenty of other games out there.

Four months is ridiculously short. If Shadowlands is the end of 4-month tiers, it gets a gold star in my book just for that.

Wait until you see how long it is this time around!
Wow won’t be fun again until they get rid of these systems. I’m not sure how anyone can enjoy current wow. Maybe if you have a set of long term friends to play with but then it’s more about hanging out with friends than actually enjoying wow.
It’s really not. Your Bellulars and Asmongolds have been done with this patch for 2 months or more at this point, they’re jumping ship to Final Fantasy because the launch tier is not supposed to last this long. Just because Castle Nathria was a harder launch raid on Mythic (but not on Heroic - Heroic CN was still quite easy and fairly comparable to something like Highmaul) doesn’t justify the patch lasting 7-8 months.
Shoot, my guild has basically hung it up for the tier and are taking a break at this point. You probably won’t see me on the forums pretty soon, although I will be back for 9.1.

I fully admit I’m stupid for coming back.
Personal preference, they can’t cater the game for everyone. Like I said, I skipped all the expansions after Legion to SL. You can take breaks, it’s okay.
You don’t have to understand to know people have different ideas of fun.
I don’t. I pug everything.
This IS a real content drought. 7-8 months in the x.0 is equal to, if not worse than, 10-14 months of a last patch.

No but the game should cater to long time fans. I see wow getting bashed everywhere I look here, Reddit, YouTube. This is the most irritated I’ve ever seen the wow community.
Well I take that back, the real ID fiasco on the forums and WoD’s war on flying, I saw about this level of dissatisfaction.
I don’t understand how someone can enjoy an expansion like wrath or MoP and still think this system filled garbage is fun no.
I don’t see how you do it. Seems like an exercise in pure misery.
I really enjoyed wrath and I really enjoy shadowlands. Again, you don’t have to understand.
