Creating problems to find solutions, that is what they are best at.
This is what happens when you turn dungeons into an Esport. We all suffer for their lack of balancing. They could have at least set it up to where damage is split among mobs versus a cap. They have done that before. The more mobs there is, the less it hits each mob for. How simple would that have been?
This is my first xpac that I am NOT excited for and I was actually excited for BFA. And my reasons are not only the AoE cap.
I’m always bummed out that feral spec always sucks at the beginning of every single xpac and I don’t see any promising things that will make others want a feral for dungeons/m+/raids/rbgs.
I would have to agree with that, AoE has its place but it has gone too far in recent expansions. At times I can’t get players to stop pressing their AoE buttons in M+, even when it is killing people. Players are just so determined to AoE, it’s lazy mind-numbing gameplay.
Due to M+ we now need to be balanced on silly things like AoE caps.
Kinda reminds me of when arena’s was released in bc and how all classes was balance around arena play, with no forethought of how it effected world/raid pve.
They aren’t even doing that right. Some classes are capped, some aren’t, some have bigger caps, some have smaller caps. It’s like the design team actively wants to make their own jobs harder.
The reason for the change is strictly to inflate time played metrics.
People who deny this, just aren’t worth arguing against. Like many already have stated, the animations of most AoEs will attack the whole group of adds and capping it out makes no sense other than to increase how long it takes to kill a pack of mobs.
See this is why I didn’t like mythic plus or the challenge mode dungeons when they first came out. Even in MOP I could see that some classes and specs were going to better for these timed/ more difficult dungeons than others. Now we have Blizzard making these dungeons an e-sport, and attempting to do balance changes to shift the meta. As a result these changes take away enjoyment and fun from our classes. I would have rather have had a more difficult non-timed 5 mans than racing a clock. What a predicable mess.
e-sports ruins everything, like always lol.
why M+ runs is considered an “e-sport” still blows my mind, rofl… it’s the saddest, most reaching for the bottom of the barrel e-sport ever, lol
I agree and it hurts the RPG foundation this game was built on. We are suppose to be working together to overcome challenges using the skills and abilities our class’s possess. Instead the game has turned into a speed race more befitting a platformer like Sonic the Hedgehog instead of an actual MMORPG.
I mean… people are always going to push and try and be the fastest and best they can be, we are perfectionists by nature, and hyper competitive.
but PVE should never be an “e-sport” EVER… how are you gonna make something competitive where the events are just scripted and all you need to do is memorize what happens, and robotically paper their rock… just asinine
