I ruined my life with WoW because i was addicted

Playing video games releases dopamine and a person can absolutely get addicted to that. If you worked in the field of addiction and dependency as you claim you would know that and you would know that video game addiction is absolutely a thing. You sir, are full of crap.

Yeah there’s a lot of clueless people online (not just taking WoW forums) when someone mentions a disorder addiction disease or other such thing there people in this world that skip over all that and just apply their own experience.

I want to say “do you not pay attention to what the person said, it’s not about you!”

But hey I guess on the ‘net it’s naive to expect logic reason common sense or compassion.

Dizzy gets it!

I am 48 and have played from start. Don’t blame a game for your life choices.

Who else did he blame? He liteally blamed himself for having addictive tendancies. Youre clueless

Youre an idiot too. Addiction doesnt affect everyone. He blamed himself, not wow.

Man, reading that title…

It sounds like you worked as a janitor in a psych office if thats how you view addiction. Thats like saying you cant be a sex addict, because its not a chemical being put into your body. I hope you educate yourself more before posting srupid things online about mental health

Since the age of 17 addiction was and still is an issue for me. But you can step up and take your fails and learn or you can say a bunch of crap and think that is the reason why. But on the other hand you might need therapy and time off the forums. So much anger.

I agree 100% with this sentiment but I say we as a community and as a group push back against this. Its not naïve to expect empathy from others, even online albeit it may feel pointless to try.

Keep in mind I am pretty new to this community I think it can and should be shaped better. We should call out these interlopers and be unrelenting in our understanding!

adjective

adjective: addicted

  1. physically and mentally dependent on a particular substance, and unable to stop taking it without incurring adverse effects.

“I became addicted to alcohol very quickly”

WoW is an activity…not a substance…
Stop acting like you work for the for-profit addiction industry
Everything is NOT an addiction

Nobody is saying that, you didn’t even read the OP. Open your mind and heart and have some empathy for others. I believe everyone is capable even you!

I have never become addicted to anything, at most, obsessive. Addiction (universal) is a horrible experience & sometimes unstoppable, for I’ve witnessed from the sidelines & I’m not talking gaming alone. I’m no therapist, but hopefully the victim becomes aware of his/her addiction & begin the process or help to reverse the affect or else, a fixation will occur & perhaps permanent till their death.

You are right to share your anecdote but it has nothing to do with this persons story, sorry to say. Not everyone is you.

Why don’t you blame yourself, and the 47 people who likd your post, for poor reading comprehension?

The OP clearly blames himself for whatever misfortune he experienced due to gaming addiction. This miserable community is too insensitive to be receptive to a post like this.

someone with less than 10k achievement points has played so much over 10 years doing nothing much in the game they had problems in their real life.

Excuse your ignorance. Citing a dictionary as support for your argument is folly. Try citing an authoritative source such as the DSM 5 next time.

Silly post…

if noone asked can i have your gold?
