I quit my guild today because of ninja looting

If all you wanted to do was listen to a campfire story then just say that.

I mean all I can assume is you didn’t like something with loot
Distribution and are looking for positive reinforcement on your decision to leave guild. Without evidence of the scenario the post literally doesn’t matter

OP, the contrarian nature of the forums is muddying the waters a lot here.

Given the information you’ve provided, it looks like it was a situation where they won the item per the loot rules, but the guild decided not to give the item over because of performance, despite that not being an established part of the loot rules.

Definitely ninja looting in that scenario, and definitely not okay with the Classic community at large. Players like that do exist everywhere, and always have, but I think you’re right on that the culture has changed. It’s mostly specific servers that exhibit that behavior in SoD though — Crusader Strike and Living Flame from what I’ve seen. Full of parasocial parse obsessors. You can easily find a more team-oriented constructive group of players on most of the smaller servers.

I think you made the right choice to leave. A guild that doesn’t share your values is never gonna pan out long term. Like I’ve left a guild because one of the self professed swiper Officers demanded everyone buy flasks for MC in SoM lol. Differences in values like that just set a nasty undercurrent to all your interactions.

If you wanted practice for your pre-law exams on a wow forum, you should have said that.

Asking for some proof isn’t a large demand bud.

You said you had a family. If someone came up to you and said your wife was cheating would you just believe it right off the bat?

I wasn’t in the run, I only saw the post in Discord, but anytime I’ve run, it’s MS>OS. Lead will ML and keep items till they’re rolled in chat, then distribute. Guild keeps greens. No mention (again, in my experience, as I was not in this run) of meeting certain criteria to roll/win aside from being in the run.

Asking for proof is a waste of time and energy. Just answer the question assuming OP is being honest.

Oooooooh.

So, you have no idea what happened.

Gotcha.

OP wasn’t even in the run.

He has no idea what happened.

It doesn’t matter. Just answer the question as if it were the situation. Nobody has been named or shamed. There is no trial. You can have a discussion without playing internet detective.

Like I said, forum being contrarian as per usual.

Correct.

So, why you carrying water for subby?

For someone talking about proof, you make a lot of statements up.

I never said anything about requesting proof being bad. I talked around the fact that I thought it was super cringe to act like the wow forums are less Judge judy and more federal circuit.

Also the fact that you think someone talking about a situation in wow on a forum, not asking for consequences, requires the same level of proof as a cheating accusation that can destroy entire lives is kinda sad.

If they legit won the ms roll and were denied the item thats garbage behavior.

Without seeing it happen yourself, unless the ML explicitly stated this person won the roll but was denied the item for reasons not previously made clear, then its hard to really know what actually happened and condemn anyone.

Tbh i feel like your op question is a little suspect because i dont see anyone condoning that behavior, but whatever. You moved on, good decision.

No. Why would I do that? “Do you have any SS” takes zero energy.

Making up and spinning stories is what saps your energy. I am under the assumption this is a completely fabricated story to farm positive reinforcement for leaving the guild because he didn’t like what they did with loot. Sorry dude but I don’t believe it. I’m not addressing a question that has zero foundation other than a story

I’m guessing none of this happened.

It’s completely made up.

Likely the OP didn’t get a piece he wanted and quit. And made this story up to get positive reinforcement to fight off cognitive dissonance.

See it all the time

I’m not. I’m answering their question about the situation they posited and the state of the community.

You kinda have to wonder why they are so defensive about this situation right?

They almost act like they are on trial and trying to get the case dismissed.

Making up an argument out of thin air because you don’t want to take the situation they framed at face value is in fact the true waste of energy.

Do you have proof? Can you provide evidence?
