I played classic. I don't miss it.

I applaud your intelligence and honesty. You are right, most people here are being emotional and thinking of the grass being greener, only a few will actually enjoy classic.
If you don't like it, don't play it.
seems like dying in Stockades rezzed you in Elwynn Forest...

and no return to gy button...
I'm downloading the demo now and I'm hyped as heck!!
I'm with the OP, I don't miss Vanilla at all and I have zero desire to revisit it. But I also have friends who won't shut up about how excited they are to revisit it.

They must have enjoyed it more than I did back in the day, I was right there with them, same server, same guild.

The only thing I miss from that time was our guild, we had an amazing group of people that we spent countless hours with for two and a half years before it finally collapsed. I miss those moments and relationships immensely, but without those people I could care less about Vanilla.

Vanilla = RPG
BFA = mmo

Good RPGs never die. People still play 'zelda' and 'super mario rpg' on super nintendo. People like immersion and adventure. Vanilla wow gives that.

Zelda on the SNES is the second best console game ever made. Super Metroid is the only thing that tops it.

The SNES is still amazing to this day. When it launched with Mario (which is still great) and Final Fantasy II (actually 4 and is still awesome), you are talking about a great console. Final Fantasy 3 (6 in Japan) is the best Final Fantasy of all and then you had Chrono Trigger for another RPG. The SNES is perhaps the best console ever made to me.

Good RPGs never get old.
I came in at the end of Classic and enjoyed it a lot for various different reasons. So, for someone like me that didn't experience all the dungeons and raids when they were current, and can deal with most of the things from back then? I'm gonna enjoy it, because I'm someone that actually very much enjoys RPG elements in my RPG gameplay.

I'll enjoy it just for having old talent trees, class mechanics and abilities that have been removed among other stuff like all rogue specs having poisons.

Old versions of dungeons, old zone quests that are less 'memes' and completely about jokes.

To sum up my level of excitement: This is the first time I bought a virtual ticket or anything related to Blizzcon basically for the Demo.

I am actually worried/frustrated that resources given to make modern WoW better might be redirected to a 15 year old game.

They should bench the idea. Maybe this will be a good gauge of what people want with the Demo. They can take the hint that "you think you do, but you don't" was dead on... a tich snarky, but the truth.

There are a lot of things about Classic I miss... and there's a lot of things I'm dreading.

I'm going to play on the Classic server because it's the only version of WoW my husband liked but my excitement level is only at 50%.

Girls don't play WoW.

It's like classic servers havent been thriving with people and about how fun it is.

I guess that's just nostalgia and rose tinted glasses.

/s

Has nothing to do with the fact that they're free.

Nope, not at all...

As it's been stated 100x if it was about the cost exclusively we'd see servers running newer patches to be the most popular.
It's kinda like driving through the old neighborhood you grew up in. It won't be the same and likely feels smaller. You may think it's cool to go back but the moments that made it special have already happened. You can't repeat "the first time".

Through my life, I started with having to play in the yard, learned to ride a bike in my neighborhood, got my license and got to drive further away, went in the service and traveled the world. I have no desire to start over, being relegated to the yard.

I didn't think it was all that snarky honestly. Classic is such a dumb move to me, that it really makes me worried that the only reason they would ever come out with classic is they really are out of ideas or current WoW has reached it's apex in their minds for some reason. Well, here we are.

Wow that is actually a really good way to put how I feel about it too.

People often reflect on high school as a great time in their lives. It certainly was for me. Do I want to go back? Hell, no! Lol.
I imagine you aren't the target audience then

This, when the guild I stuck with since Vanilla fell apart in a later expansion, with a number of members quitting for various reasons, I ended up quitting too instead of sticking with a more hardcore raid group that felt a lot less friendly. Kept in touch with some people outside of the game though.

A lot of the things I liked about it are things that won't magically be gotten back in classic. Game could be exactly the same but there's factors like the community that just won't be.

Sure can make new connections in classic, but it's not like you can't do that in modern wow either.

I definitely think there will be people who enjoy it, but it isn't hitting the right notes of nostalgia in my own case.

Okay... out of context it sounds that way to a lot of people. It's a shame that they are trying to cater to the wrong crowd who really don't know what they want for whatever reason (maybe they never played it at all and just want to "try" it). Some requests from the community should be immediately discounted.

Silly request: Alliance "High Elves" NOW. Give me flying EVERYWHERE NOW

Legitimate complaint: End game not fun

In this instance we're talking silly to want to recreate/relive 2004. They should not try to replicate it, it can not ever be the same.

Edit: Resources given to development of this game are important. The way that they're used is key to the longevity of it.
I didnt play classic but Ive been playing computer games since they were created and just hearing Classic described made and makes me know Id hate it.
The game is fine now. just needs some tweaks and for blizzard to stop fiddling with numbers every freakin week so I never know what my$60 boosted character is going to be like next week....playable or trash.
[quote="207682400676"] What I find funny is how some folks argue that leveling is slow boy if only they new what leveling was like back then.

people only complain because there are now 120 lvls to go through with little to no character progression during the process its a slow grind because its boring theres no actual changes to your rotation while lvling your pretty much pressing the same three buttons over and over. yes lvling may be slower in vanilla but people will actually feel as if they accomplished something in the process.

Am I alone here? I remember Everquest 2 launched, I bought it, and was disapointed. One week later, vanilla WoW launched. I bought it, loved it (at the time) and have never looked back, only quitting here and there taking breaks.

My first character was a human warlock. I remember being thrilled doing the level 40 mount quest, which finished in the barrens, for a human! I rode my 60% speed mount up and down the coast of the barrens for like an hour.

I remember surgers being pulled with core hounds, not being able to log in to the gates of AQ opening, how excited I was with getting staff of shadowflame from Nefarian and grinding argent dawn rep to get into naxx 40 cheaper.

I loved vanilla, I really did. 12+ years ago.

But I have NO desire to go back. Those of you that do, Im sure you all have moments that you remember fondly, the same as me. But do you really think you are going to have your "riding through the barrens on a level 40 mount" moment again? Is it really going to be exciting walking through Stormwind turning in your onyxia attunement the same as it was years ago?

Maybe it will be for you. Maybe you really can go home twice. I cannot. I will admit, I am spoiled by modern WoW and have no desire to go back to all the inconvienences. I am actually worried/frustrated that resources given to make modern WoW better might be redirected to a 15 year old game. I hope I am wrong. Sorry, just venting.

Then don't play it?

It's not that difficult to understand.
the people here against classic wow just don't want other people to be happy.
