I officially did it

Sub cancelled, reason given was “Looking at 9.1 pvp gear changes got me to cancel. We couldn’t do another season of being massively outgeared and the scaling changes had us excited, only to be disappointed that there are still large power gaps in between ratings. A difference of 2 ilvls making the total difference of 8 ilvls between unrated and max would have been fine, but the remainder of 26 ilvls is just way too much. Playing people with higher skill is one thing, but adding the gear component is just too much.”

Hopefully they will learn and change things but it’s much too doubtful. Have fun in 9.1 guys! If it stays the same we won’t be back till next expansion.

Sure, along with prob playing better comps. But my friend and I like playing what we play and fury + unh dk in 2s has a hard enough time climbing. Add in the gear differences and it’s crazy hard. We did hit 1450 this season which with this comp was an accomplishment but we don’t want to do another season of fight not only better comps, but gear as well.

I mean you’re either playing the game to troll (queuing unh + fury in 2s) or queuing the game to get rating. Complaining about gear and the rating system while queing a comp like that is kinda dumb lol.

Yeah, it’s crazy playing classes you enjoy as opposed to fotm; I get it and it’s probably hard to understand.

Would we expect to hit gladiator with this comp? Of course not. Would it be fun to fight people with relatively the same gear as opposed to people with 20-30% stats? Yes - then we could truly test things and see how high we can get.

Whatever, no matter. The sub has been cancelled until they do some sort of fix to the gearing.

So you play 2s with your Unholy friend as Fury-UnholyDk, you blame blizzard for not being able to climb and cancel your sub, I see.

Some customer service person is going to read that and have no idea what you are talking about.

I mean this isn’t a FOTM class issue, even if you palyed frost arms (two of the most meta specs in the game) you’d probably never win a game.

Warrior and DK aren’t designed to play double DPS. They don’t have the kit to be able to live long enough.

I don’t even disagree with you about the scaling issue but the reason you aren’t winning games in 2s has nothing to do with it.

Congratulations???

Wait… You’re playing that in 2s and expect to climb? That’s a joke a right?

GOOD FOR YOU BRO! :slightly_smiling_face: I’m sure once players find out that pvp is going to be even worse in 9.1, you’ll see another mass exodus of players leaving this game. :flushed: :astonished: :astonished: :astonished:

Something tells me he will resub and we will see him back here behind the power curve asking blizzard to nerf everyone’s gear who started gearing when 9.1 started.

To a different end, this sort of reinforces why there’s been clamoring for soloq for so long and frustration that its fallen on deaf ears.

A number of my irl buds have all left, most of them pretty damn competitive in arena given their relatively low overall playtime in this game. Playing a spec that doesn’t comp well for 2’s or 3’s with what’s available online from people you know, trust, and most importantly enjoy playing with and all you’re left with is a pool of sweaty tryhard bads who will leave after a single loss, or worse berate you for 5 minutes via whisper to vent their inadequacies in any/all areas of their life that has them taking it out on some internet stranger- even after a string of wins; is super frustrating to say the least and it doesn’t take much of that to urge people take their time and/or money elsewhere.

On my friends part, it’s not a matter of having thin skin. No one gets upset about what some obese zoomer has to say lmao. Just fatigue from a brainlet system full circle where seemingly every other game, mmo or otherwise with ranked competition does this one thing better but ironically lacks in most other facets when paired to wow.

The other side of the token that must be considered is for people who want to play specifically with their friends AND be ultimately successful with achieving high rating and all that comes with that requires someone in that circle sacrificing playing a class or spec they have little to no interest in and then having to invest no small amount of time to become competent with it. There’s just a large number of people who are positively tired of comp play for the sake of it and making it be the main determinant of progression in rating, gear, rewards exclusively.

The social component is an accepted given but it’s no secret that the sea of players with inflated ego has grown to such a size that the amount of time wasted trying to find a handful of other consistent players who share a similar schedule, play what your comp needs, is competent, tolerant of mistakes happening, and willing to invest in the group long term is pretty unfeasible for the average person/player hence why a lot of people, normies or otherwise have been dropping like flies, even if they mistakenly do blame gear/gatekeeping which also factor in but in smaller degrees.

I love how you guys completely miss the point. It’s kind like… let’s suppose I wanted to play street fighter in ranked games and my favorite character was Dan.

Would I be able to climb high rankings with Dan? Probably not. I may climb the rankings and end up losing, but at least every Ryu I fight would have the same power level.

What you don’t have in that competitive environment is people that have a Ryu with increased power or health and it’s all the same. Here, in the “competitive” aspect of the game is people with variable stats, often with increased power stats.

I don’t mind getting beat because skill or because I’m using crappy characters, the frustrating part is gear.

If this were previous expansions where eventually in the season EVERYONE had the same set of conquest gear and we were getting beat, that’d be whatever. Unfortunately, it’s no longer the case and I see there is no desire on their part to go back to the past.

I have 226 ilvl and playing fury/uhdk in 2s would probably force me to quit the game too

You did the right thing mate if you are not having fun you should not have to play

saying that

see you next patch when you jones out =)

to think one needs and or find normal to have a 26 ilvl difference between honor and conquest gear is kinda weird for me but hey its forums so people will bash you if you dare to play with your friends and or play stuff you are having fun on over playing some fotm specs lke some hpriest destro from bfa

I get what you’re saying but you can’t compare the two.

Even if you and your uh bud had 226, you’re both completely hamstrung because of your comp which you recognize, closely followed up by both of your ability to play given specs. You can get the gear, but you’re going to have to sacrifice playing fury and he’s going to have to sacrifice playing dk. After several years, I’ve arrived at a place where I agree that neither of you should have to do this- play what you want and still have an expectation that you can be competitive and have measured progression. Anyone who says that’s what skirmishes are for is memeing and not worth listening to.

Obv some specs synergize extraordinarily well but it’s extra insulting in 2021 that this is the last game you can go to, to get some form of ranked competition that doesn’t shoehorn you into comp play for reasons or worse, an effort to protect the almighty esport even though everyone knows all it takes is creating another division of matchmaking, just like any other form of competition - real team sports or otherwise.

Chalk it up to laziness of blizzards behalf and just being out of touch with their game and the brunt of the subscriber base. Money talks but don’t hold your breath.

2s is a damn meme right now. I gave up on that and moved to RBGs for rating. It is working out pretty decently at least.
