I no longer know what I want from this game

I think the underlying issue, at least for people like me, is that I’m story-driven. I’m not really interested in chasing carrots on sticks, like gear. So, even if I do wait for the invasions or get daily WQ’s, once I get everything, I’m back to square one. Boredom.

Yes, most likely. That’s not a bad thing though, you should spend your leisure time doing something you enjoy.

Leave some feedback before you go.

I’m overwhelmed by this expansion - I love it! But it’s also a bit overwhelming. And I didn’t realizer they were doing away with WQs. How are we supposed to build rep? I don’t get it.

This is why I alternate between two MMOs: this one and LoTRO. I spend most of my time in LoTRO because that game is 100% about driving a story.

They’re not doing away with WQs, they’ve just moved a lot of them to a 3-day reset. There are still daily tasks you can do in-game, but most of them aren’t WQs.

I believe this is will come from the primal invasion world content events. Like the ones we had during pre-patch. They should become available next week.

Nothing about the OP is fake.

Literally none of that was said. They wanted daily WQs, which isn’t making anything harder. They want more content which is giving people freedom of choice and not time gating.

Did you even read?

Seriously, I can’t even figure out where that person got any of that. LOL

Also: we can make our own story if we want to start some RP nights after the holidays.

Wont be hard, because it is every other MMO out there, except WoW now!

Big mistake Blizz!

A small break may help you enjoy the game a bit more. If you need, I’ll babysit your gold while gone, to make sure it remains safe, of course.

lol! Thanks for the obligatory laugh.

No. I’m taking a few days off to play Neverwinter instead. It’s a turn-based single-played D&D game.

I hear you , i have been in this game since Beginning of Burning Crusade. Now do to age and health I cant run the high end content like I was able to in the years before. At 71 I want to just be able to do the fun stuff here but it seems like even that is diminishing. Long hours to grind out mediocre gear is just getting old like me…heck now even the professions are a total full tilt grind of many hours but just just my opinion.

I hate to say it, and i dont mean to be condescending, but the issue is not the game, you’re refusing to do the content that is there. And there is plenty of it during the honey moon period. We all choose to play how we want, and more power to you for trying.

But this is alot like buying a car and throwing the wheels away because they are round… sure you can get in and twist the wheel, play with the radio and tinker with the electronics… but in the end… you are not getting much use out of the car…

Looking for group can be a pain with the rush rush rush GO GO GO PEW PEW PEW, but there are those out there that still take thier time and play with friends and family. Playing a MMO solo should be possible for leveling. but you cant ignore the rest without creating your own issues that have nothing to do with the game… a Single player rpg like witcher 3 or so sounds like it would be right up your alley.

If you’re up for a change, Guild Wars 2 might be something for you to check out. The exploration is endless, and the set of abilities you have in front of you at any given time is few/manageable. It takes some getting used to when you try a new thing, but it may be worth it. LoTRO is also a good exploration game you can try for a while for free. Its combat is clunky and the ability set can be pretty complex, but the art is amazing and if you like LotR, the storylines are pretty darn good.

Good luck to you!

I’m actually down loading Neverwinter as we post. It’s turn-based, which should give me time to enjoy the story and combat. I want to avoid real time combat where I have to think on my feet and react accordingly. That’s something I have great difficulty with these days.

You want something that you cant obtain is the problem which is what many of us want.
You dont want a feature, a system, a currency, or a activity.
You want a feeling, you want an experience, you want to feel what you felt when you stepped outta the leveling zone for the first time back in 2008.
You want to feel what you felt when you got for first epic, when you downed your first raid boss, when your guild collectivly let out a sigh and cheer over ventrilo when Lady Vajsh finally did not bug out and you killed her for the first time.
You want to soar over Northred for the first time again.

You cant get these back, these things are gone. The most you have is remembering what it was like, and finding that joy else where in the game or another game.

Getting old sucks.

I wish LOTRO didn’t have that stuttering/engine/database problem.

The music in that game is absolutely beautiful! And it has some of the most gorgeous atmosphere I’ve ever felt in an MMORPG. The Shire towns are just so lovely.

Step away for a couple of weeks, if you get that niggling feeling to log on, then you know your answer.

This is entirely possible. I am not one to sit on a game for multiple years. Once I hit 100 hours in most games, I am done. WoW of course, or any MMO, holding me a bit longer of course.

There are a few things to sugest:

  • Find a socialization aspect you enjoy. This can lead to teaming up, chatting, fishing tournaments, races, etc. Group content is fine, but the real magic can be in creating your own fun contests and games within the game.

  • Not into socialization, I get that. Try something new you have never done before. Harder every day, but we get stuck in routines, and we often never know when we are stuck in the rut.

  • You are not into hunting rares, gathering, crafting, or pet battles. Limits you a bit. You can solo rares with some difficulty. Maybe not all. I use them as challenges. I don’t pet battle, but I do pet battle as a means to an end. Some of those little guys are cute as hell.

  • I’d wait to see where they go with World Quests and content. Who knows, it may not be as bad…right?..RIGHT!?

To me, games have steadily, across the board, gone down hill over the last 10 years or so. The same rehashed ideas or poorly done sequels, or reboots, etc. Even in DF I’d like to see more structures, and dungeon type stuff in the overworld. Too much open space, which is fun for me currently, but open space is…not why I play WoW…and there is a LOT of it.

Tl;Dr - Take a break and come back. It may have run it’s course. Step out of your comfort zone, is something that may help.

Happy Farming! Hope to see you out there. If not, may your next adventure bring the joy you are looking for. It is fleeting the older we get, or I am crazy.
