Yeah, all the mobs in the world and in dungeons having their loot standardized to nothing in most cases is dull. The randomness and differences in drops between different types of mobs helped keep things a little more fresh, and the occasional random BoE that you could send to an alt or AH was always welcome, especially when dropping from the mobs you’d least expect them from.
One of my favorite WoW moments was back in Vanilla when I had my high school friend over at my place and we were both playing. He killed a random boar out in the Blasted Lands because it was getting on his nerves and it dropped a [Glowing Brightwood Staff]. He was overjoyed. Just like that he had his pre-raid weapon taken care of before even hitting cap.
