Back in 2001 people were using other voice chat platforms called Ventrilo and Team Speak. Later there was a new one called Mumble and then finally Discord.
When wow released in 2004 Vent and TeamSpeak were used heavily. We used both in earlier games like DAOC , SWG, FF11, and EQ. This isn’t a new concept.
Same, I honestly thought vent was just fine or even TS.
So you made this post to cry about being antisocial on a multiplayer game. Ok? Maybe this game isn’t for you if you can’t communicate with other people.
Weren’t around for Ventrilo eh?
Discord is better imo. I used to run a vent server for a guild many years back (only lasted a year) - I still say vent had better sound quality than even discord had today…but with my server boosted now which grants higher bandwidth the quality is pretty darn good.
I like discord because it’s all communication for my various games in one spot plus the documentation sharing (I can post maps or npc profiles in a channel for example for one of my ttrpg games) there’s the automation for rules and creating bots is fairly straightforward in general customization is fantastic and simple.
True i miss rumble, Teamspeak, Vent, Skype, myspace groups. Ah the good ol days
