If I’m to understand correctly, dalaran is not coming back. It was fun whilst it lasted I suppose. However, I miss having a mage hub, as it just makes sense to have either a city or school for mages (think Winterhold in the elder scrolls).

I’m expecting that yeah. Like whenever I bring up f.e that I’m quite glad wheelchair wizard survived, there are many MANY people whining about how he should’ve stayed dead. I respect their opinion but geez. Same situation here lmao.
I’m one of those people that hated what Dalaran stood for, namely as an institution that held Humans as the highest authorities on magic and its moral use.
I agree that we should have centers for magical learning, but not like Dalaran with its homogenized Kirin Tor that had the likes of Draenei and Blood Elves, who are masters of the arcane in their own right, playing second fiddle to Humans.
That is why the prospect of de-centralizing magic-based organizations is far more exciting to me than reviving Dalaran and the Kirin Tor.
Nah, Dalaran should be rebuilt and with any luck this rediculous decision they made in TWW that Dalaran should not be rebuilt will go the way of the “no more aspects”.
That’s not what it stood for at all. From its foundation Dalaran was a cosmopolitan center of magical learning, effectively born with the spirit of cooperatively pursuing arcane knowledge between humans and elves and growing to include mages from other races who wanted to do the same.
How does welcoming everyone to join in and share knowledge amount to holding humans as “the highest authorities on magic and its moral use?” Not only are there many non-human mages in the Kirin Tor and Dalaran more generally, but the Prince of Silvermoon himself once sat on the ruling Council of Six, as did Aethas Sunreaver and even Kalecgos, a Blue Dragon, and that’s just in recent decades. For that matter, the Order/Council of Tirisfal also had a bunch of elves and even gnomes in it.
As representatives of what was, by its end, an appreciably diverse nation of mages, I feel like the final Council of Six needed to be way more colorful. We had Khadgar, and (generously) Modera, and three or four other humans so forgettable I couldn’t tell you which of them survived the crash.
Your memory is a bit selective. Maybe you forgotten about the human wizard who conducted a bloody purge of Dalaran’s blood elves, whether they were mage or mundane?
And I think that we’ve moved enough back with the Dragons getting their groove back since that was a core theme of that expansion. And with Dalaran getting destroyed a Second time, I think it’s time that it stays dead.
And I dont. I think Dalaran should rise back up. A big fat finger to the forces of chaos and a defiant “you can keep trying to destroy us but we will keep building back up stronger then before” deal.
Plus we always need new expansion capital, a Silvermoon sizes Dalaran would be pretty awesome.
I concur. I feel like some people are forgetting a certain Admiral that isn’t as morally good as she seems. Seriously why is what she did just ignored completely? Khadgar, Kalec and the others just don’t care?
