I agree with everything OP said. My friends - who all played BFA the entire expansion - are quitting after sub runs out. And they were all active in BFA having fun with M+, transmogs, etc. BFA was connected in both lore and landscape. There was color to the world, Lot of the mobs in SL seem grey or lacking skins, textureless - they call them undead to get away with doing actual art.
M+ and loot nerfs, Choreghast, WQ based on renown (and really unfun WQ), boring conduits and covenent (rebranded with less ability than azerite) – just to name a few.

What kept me playing BFA was how good Mythic+ felt.

BfA m+ had way more trash than any legion or SL dg.

Because dungeons are connected to the maps, they also felt more unique in its visuals and story line.

Thing is if you didn’t m+ You couldn’t raid nor PvP. Best pvp trinkets were all from m+, 2/3 of all BiS items were all from m+ and m+ rained more loot than raiding and pvp combined.

I am pretty sure you misread it. Or are making it up. It is impossible to have a wand in a rogue cache for the same reason you never had a wand in bfa/legion, they didnt even change this code.

I agree loot was far better in BFA, but everything else on that expansion sucked and I hated it and if I could I would completely erase the knowledge about BFA from my memory.

Excepting the loot differences, I would say the same thing about SL. I am not having fun in it. I can’t give a list of things I don’t like about it; I just am not enjoying it at all. I’m struggling just to get all my toons capped. SL is just not fun for me.

Nothing feels very rewarding or interesting In SL. BFA (minus 8.3) was a good game.

As a solo (semi)casual It’s just a bunch of campaign chores and other pointless garbage if you chose to do it. My gear sucks and I’m basically hard stuck with nothing of significance in place to ever let me catch up or close the gap to closer to the higher rated players. Now I’m hard stuck at around 187-190 and you have people just throttling me with 220+ ilvl.

This entire expansion feels like it was made to cater to the high end elite players. Be it in PvE and PvP. To hell with the casuals. Well Bliz can cram this game right up Ion @$*. I’m out.

Ion said multiple times they reduced loot because of war forged system removal.

You keep quoting things that mention both loot in sl and wf/tf, but nothing you have quoted says the one caused the other. Theyre just two things that happened at the same time. We don’t have to choose between the two. Wf/tf should lay down and die in a shallow grave and we just need a system of currency or some sort of bad luck protection.

Yes, being rewarded with shinies for drawing a triangle in the dirt for Tortollans. And then dutifully taking that gear to the Scrapper like 99% of the other loot firehose gear that dropped.

Not to mention class pruning, the GCD changes, RNG azerite traits, RNG corruptions.

BFA had its problems but in general I feel it was a much better expansion than Shadowlands.

BFA had one critical issue that destroyed it though (I mean it had many good and bad points but …) the fact that it was a damn second job. The relentlessness of required systems participation and keeping up with the Jones’s was unreal. That one thing was enough to suffocate any good parts, it just wore at your soul and made “playing a game” impossible.
