And? Having alts on the same power level in PvP was totally possible for like a decade. It only became difficult with AP mechanics in early Legion and now in BFA.
Why is it such a bad thing?

I watched a football game go into double overtime once. Let me tell you those poor cheerleaders were really suffering from cheer exhaustion by the end. I agree. It’s a real problem in America today.

Good? Bad? Doesn’t matter. I just don’t understand it. I don’t understand the desire to have a character be powerful without having to play them.
I guess in the end it just sounds like max level twinking to me. Maybe that’s it.

I feel like you’re missing a key element, you keep saying things like, “Instantly” and “Without having to play them” when in reality what people want to do is in fact, play them, just not in Najatar and Mechagon, not in Islands and World Quests, not pointlessly grinding things that will gate keep us from doing the things we really want to do(PvP, alt raid nights, etc.).

I played my alts the same way I played my main - by doing arena and RBGs. And doing the content I enjoy, they were all on the same level and competitive.
Nobody is asking to not play their alts at all and have them at the same level as their “main”. But having to do all of these chores and PvE nonsense just to be competitive on each alt is awful design and is really very recent. Nobody was opposed to having competitive alts before these AP mechanics existed, not sure why it is so controversial now.

My biggest problem with the current situation isn’t necessarily having to repeat content, it’s that the content we’re having to repeat isn’t very fun the second go-around.
I can do the same dungeon five, ten, fifty times and still enjoy it, but starting the rep grind over, knowing it’ll take x days with timegates (more if I skip unfun WQs), it’s just not as fun to go through the second time.
Hitting Exalted, for example, feels good exactly once. I actually enjoy those sorts of long-haul grinds the first time. But you want me to do it again? Nuts to that!

People in this very thread are lamenting that they can’t bring their fresh 120 into a BG without fighting “mythic geared raiders” and how it’s too much for them. They complain that they can’t skip directly into heroic raiding.
How is that not instantly and without having to play them? Maybe you’re only thinking of your own argument, but there are more people in this thread than just you.

I feel like the crowd that engages in endgame content is very unamused at how the essence grind on top of everything is destroying alts.

Seems to me like u/ur borther want mutliple mains. That is harder than just playing alts. I have 7 alts. Most of their essences are rank 1 or 2 and i dobt 3xpect them to be as good as this main coz they are alts.
the main problem I have with the essences is it simply greater increases the ratio of mindless WQ/chores activities to the actual raiding, M+, and PVPing time.
The sad thing is it looked like it attempted to do the opposite. But the time gating factor of it really plays a role into having the feeling of readyness for end-game content.

Besides the CoF and MoLD essence which one requires u to go tru wq/follower quests?
And even those u dont have that much work for rank 2 now.
The essences are the only real problem for alts.

I just level alts thru invasions now , I think I leveled 3x level 120 characters the reg way and and 11 to 120 thru invasions . onced there leveled I give em all the 385 gear and do a few WQ for trinkets and rings then they just wait for next expansion

How odd, I don’t have a problem whatsoever with just playing my alts. No one has a gun to your head, you know forcing you to do ‘x’.

I have more alts this xpac than I have any other except maybe WoD. Probably because my alts are actually alts and not a second, third, etc. main.
