I’m worried about classic and blizzard as a whole

I can see why your concerned and it is definitely valid. Activision Blizzard has had a lot of bad press of late. It was just a bad PR move by the company with Diablo Immortal otherwise i think it looks great as a mobile game. I believe classic is looking very original, even with proposed loot sharing and sharding. Also looking forward to some of there new releases like W3 remastered.

some things to keep in mind;

blizzard said themselves that modern wow has at least 2 more expansion packs left. are they going to go back on that? i doubt it. so they have to at least, finish those up. of course, those expansions will finish up rebooting modern wow, to make it something completely different from its original state. thats kind of the point and part of activision making it part of their intellectual property. as i explained in another thread; anything produced before a merger, is NOT the intellectual property of the other company. and after a merger, you will normally see a series of reboots/remakes, that is intended to rebrand that preexisting intellectual property. i used squaresoft and enix, as an example. same thing happened there. Final Fantasy 1 through 10, was only the intellectual property of squaresoft- even after they merged with enix. so enix needed to rebrand, in order to make it part of their intellectual property as well (FF10-2, FF7 remake etc).

so we have a pretty good idea where modern wow is headed. down the dumpster but at least it will not die for a long time to come. now classic wow, is a remake of the original (explained why above). its going to be activision’s ideal/vision and there will be a lot of things integrated that original blizzard would have never done. even if they had the ability. but its also their starting over point. they cant take anymore fails. this is one they MUST stick to.

as far as mobile and the like- that is what i like to call a hoax. odd i know but i will explain; original blizzard, has MANY devoted pc gamers and activision knows this. and these gamers have been there from the start (give or take).
most of those are wow’s player base. not including those of diablo etc. im not saying they wont go into the mobile market but that they wont be 100% mobile like they claim.
reboots/remakes, tend to not be very popular. because they deviate too far from the original material and that is one reason the majority dislike bfa. activision is well aware of that and there are many more things to come that will deviate even further, effectively killing modern wow. so instead of taking any further steps/action when it comes to the game its self- its better to also reboot the player base. it weeds out the original player base and only leaves those devoted to activision. thats what this hoax does. it pisses off the people still hanging on to original blizzard and their games. expect to see even more of these hoax’s down the line. when you cut off all emotional ties, it gives you creative freedom to do whatever you want.

wow its self, isnt going anywhere and nor is activision going into mobile full time. if you think modern wow is bad now, you have only hit the surface. the only people that will be left to play their new action, pvp, real time fighting game- are activision’s player base. while everyone else will migrate to classic. watch and see.

I’m not to worried about classic… from the sounds of it, most of the people working on it are the old guard people.

As for anything else coming out of blizzard, most likely going to be garbage. The news coming out about the cutting of wages, push for growth ect coming out from official & unofficial sources, and the exile of old top end blizz execs, and their replacements from activision… blizz is no longer the ‘focus on quality and building great games and only great games’ developer they used to be.

You’re overstating that one, I think. Mike retired, but he was replaced by J. Allen Brack, who came up through the ranks of the development team. Other positions have reportedly been filled with other Blizzard vets.

The big thing causing concern internally at Blizzard, according to an article I read on (I think) ‘gameinsider dot com’, is the installment of one Activision person in particular in the spot of CFO. Apparently, Overwatch did SO well in its first year that now Activision has decided that anything less that profits in the billions is cause for her to micromanage budgets. Which is not what Blizzard’s culture has been like in the past at all.

So if WoW Classic is not how you want it to be… then by default it is already screwed up…

got it. :roll_eyes::thinking:

but i need classic to be the best game in the world :sob:

It’s not about me it’s about classic. I have realistic expectations and I understand that there are going to be parts of the game that feel different. But there is a line to how far those changes reach and if it’s crossed I just won’t play it.

i dont think its because of activion, i think its because of the changing market

blizzard needs to adapt to keep making money, and desktop mmorpgs are not where the money is right now. guess im not the first person to say that here

lots of great games are coming out, but if you only like mmorpgs then i can see why you would say that

Blizzard is not in the business of making another MMO, that is the biggest issue with MMO fans.
They tried with Titan and failed. Blizzard is moving on. I will play Classic but it will be a waiting room for the next great MMO, someone will do it, but it won’t be Blizz and it won’t be soon. Pantheon? Camelot Unchained?
The market is there, all these games that have launched legacy/progression servers proves it EQ1, EQ2, Rift, LoTR. Blizz needs to get Classic out because they are late to the game.

I agree, I’m not sure if they were ever really on board with the idea of Classic, they just wanted to take advantage of the player base that played on private servers, at least it’s not going to be a separate subscription… Can really see their greed with Destiny 2, it’s pretty much a RNG slot machine with pretty flashing colors to match. Micro transactions have been eating away at my sanity with most of my once beloved games, I doubt Classic will be any different… Only game I play now a-days is Dark Souls Remastered and Fallout 4 because of the mod freedom. I might play Classic if it’s an exact copy of the older version however if they make any changes I’m going to burn my bridge with Blizzard and bury what ever hope I had for them. In anticipation I already canceled my subscription… I doubt at this point they will be able dig their head out of their @$$, Activision has almost completely ensnared Blizzard with their corrupt corporate greed. With the amount of players disowning their games I don’t think micro transactions will be leaving any time soon, it’ll only get worse.
